Default MLS community map 2010 edition

Interesting to see where your neighbourhood fits into MLS map, although a few years old, not much would've changed.

The map itself may be old, but the labels are from last week. From Reddit. People have been giving input ever since, and I think the user who created it may be making a revised version.

Nice to see the quality of minor league hockey teams hasn't changed since I played.

They forgot "Little Poland" next to "Philippines"

That map is inherently racist and prejudice.

I'm wondering how mad Airdrie residents were when they realized they weren't included in the map, even though they're only a twenty minute drive to downtown.

Haha, aren't you the one always telling everyone they're too uptight and politically correct? Wasn't it literally the reason you asked for a self-imposed ban a few months ago?

I believe that map only adds to the stigma that some parts of the city face everyday. We see people rip on the NE part of the city everyday, on CP.

Yes, mostly due to what it's actually like.

Based on real life experiences mostly... This map seems pretty bang on to me

Also, the part about it being full of east indians isn't racist, it's what it actually is. I'm the least racist person around and can't stand racists, as I work with lots of east indians.

But even they joke about the NE being "full of brown people", they all live there, and it's very well known. In fact one guy told me when friends immigrate here, it's often suggested to them to move to a NE community as you will be surrounded by indians and it will be easieer to transition to life in Canada.

^ do me favor and ask them to learn how to drive on the RIGHT side of the road, rather than down the middle.

No I won't ask "them" to do anything, because "them" is a whole bunch of people.

Maybe the next time I see a white person doing something stupid on the road I'll get you to ask "them" to learn how to drive.

Unbelievable, you leave the board after getting upset over being called out over your comments about Natives, then you come back and post that garbage?

Maybe time for another break?

So let me get this right: a generalized statement such as "the NE is full of brown people" can be thrown around (likely because it's what has been observed) but I, or anyone else, can't make a statement saying all brown people drive down the center of the road...because it's what I observe day in day out?

I realize one example is about placement of a certain culture of people and the other is about the habits of a certain people, but in the end aren't we still saying the same thing? We're both still generalizing about where these people ALL live and do.

They are certainly different. Saying lots of east indians live in the NE is the same as saying lots of italians live in little italy in lots of cities. They choose to live in the same general area, as it allows them to intergrate into Canada better, as they help eachother learn English and interact with other Canadians.

Pointing that out isn't racist, while saying "tell them to drive down the rights side of the road instead of the middle" is racist.

Saying they're equal because they're both "observations' is oversimplifying the two instances to make a connection.

EDIT: The other difference being that people are saying the NE is full of east indians, not that all east indians live in the NE.

Where as you're saying that all brown people drive down the middle of the road

It's what almost got Anne Coulter arrested in Canada for violating our hate speech laws. It wasn't that she was stating that muslim extremists are a threat to security, it's that she said "all muslims should be a on the no fly list". It was her inclusion of teh word "all" that made it a violation of our hate speech laws.
