I am totally against this. I don't think it moral or right for women I think are cute to come out.

She's even hotter now that she's unavailable.

So for whatever reason, I never really liked her.

But her little speech was well done, inspiring. Kind of like her a bit more now.

Isnt it homophobic or at least a symptom of white guilt or I suppose hetrosexual guilt that you would like someone more because they are homosexual?

gottabekd probably appreciates her more because the inspirational speech, and the courage she showed today by coming out (not necessarily because she came out).

Kitty Pryde showed her pride today.

This has been a real pain in the ass for me. I've been up all night rewriting my Ellen Page/X-Men erotic fan fiction.

Wont it be better when we don't have to read stories about people opening the closet door?
Who really cares?

What they should do is all come out together in one huge group. Do a press conference and get it out of the way. Athletes, Actors, Politicians - anyone in the spotlight. Rip the bandaid off.

Agreed. I suppose as a public figure it was important to her that she do it in a public manner. Especially given that she was hiding it out of fear. It will be nice someday when nobody hides homosexuality out of fear.

*sigh* We do this song and dance every time someone comes out. I am not sure why I keep replying to the same question posed in every thread.

It is important for gay people to tell others that they are gay so that others don't feel alone, ashamed, like there is something wrong with them. The more people that are out, the more normal/acceptable it becomes, the more the heterosexual community is towards acceptance. But just as, if not more important is for homosexuals to accept themselves.

Do you not think Michael Sam didn't help even one kid playing on his high school football team feel better that he isn't alone being a gay football player? Do you think that kid cares?
