Our Granlund is a great story. For whatever reason nobody on CP was over-hyping the kid while he was in Finland, despite him being a 2nd round pick & the younger brother of a blue-chipper. It seemed like he was generally overlooked when discussing our prospects.

It's nice to see him making a solid contribution in North America already, exceeding expectations in a way.

I don't think he was over-looked. I think there was a pretty realistic assessment of his chances - not very big, not super fast, not putting up eye-popping points in Europe by any stretch.

The chances of him making the NHL were remote.

But when he came over and showed that he could not only play on smaller North American ice, but put up pretty good numbers in the A, it became obvious that he has progressed beyond what anyone other than the most optimistic had expected.

Let's hope he continues to grow - and with the strength of his defensive game, the coaches will have no qualms with giving him every opportunity to do so.

I'd say Granlund was always on the list, but he was a half dozen names down the list for most Calgary fans.

I liked the return for Erixon in that they landed three good bets to play, but no sure things. Granlund was my least likely of the three though.

This summer he finished tied for 12th in our rankings with Agostino, ironically just behind Horak
