If Hudler gets asked, I don't think for a second he would say no. Doesn't seem like that kind of guy.

Pretty sure he'd go. From the Hudler-love over there in the Czech Republic, I'd say the possibility of him coming on as a replacement is definitely a hot topic right now.

It's ridiculous that he's being talked about as a replacement in the first place. He should have been on that team regardless.

If Hudler is invited as a replacement, he would definitely go and he would be extra motivated to rip it up. He's not gonna tell his country to shove it.

Not his country but that goof of a coach should get the finger.

If Hudler gets looked over again it would be an absolute disgrace. Looking at the Czech line up he should have been a lock in the first place. High school drama between coaches and players is something that should absolutely not happen at the Olympics. The Czech's are a better team with Hudler on it.

If I was in his position, I'd tell them to go to hell. Putting the coach's son in law on the team before a first/second line NHLer. Ridiculous.

Would you choose Vrbata over Hudler though? I'd say it's pretty close, but neither are really the type of player that would replace a Sobotka type player.

it would probably be a little uncomfortable for Jiri know what management thinks of him, I know it's for teammates and country but I would say no thanks. Let him get some rest.

I guess the Czechs have no shot at a medal but that would be a pretty tough thing to say not to just because you are mad the coach didn't have you on the team originally.

Not sure how it would affect him going forward in the NHL but not likely something that would be a positive in teams eyes when looking at him and his attitude.

Roman Jedlicka @jedli
I am afraid neither Sobotka's injury opens the door to Sochi for #flames Jiri Hudler. This is what coach Hadamczik said for TV NOVA: "if (1)

Roman Jedlicka @jedli
Sobotka is offensive player I would say Hudler is our number one choice. But Sobotka is defensive player, good on PK and faceoff, uses (2)

Roman Jedlicka @jedli
his body effectively. We have such players like Erat, Kovar, Irgl or Rolinek. I have to think about it and make the best decision for team."

Sad that Hudler's defensive play is being overlooked

They got the translation wrong, I believe what he actually said was:

"I'm busy looking for any excuse not to bring Hudler onto this team."

Yes, cause the team is already bursting with offence..

It's not that he isn't terrible defensively, it's that he is their best possible choice available, period. And should've been on the team originally.

wow Hudler must have done something wrong to have Erat in before him. That is just plain brutal.
