There are underpinnings in many posts - what is it about this man that just doesn't make sense. Eating Zetterberg "Snowballs" during the broadcast (and trying to commentate with his mouth full). Shouting out "HEEEEE SCRORESSZZZZ". Or "Where is IT !!!". What is it about this guy ?

I really miss Peter Loubardias. He was quirky, but not in some kinda insane way like Kerr.

No. Kerr is good. Flames are good. Thread is bad. Less hating on media, more celebration/snowballing .gifs.

He's getting better. Nothing will ever get worse than his call on Baertschi's goal against Phoenix last year. Bruuuuuutal.

I still remember his first broadcast.

He's not embarrassing, but this is not his calling. Great radio guy tho

Honestly regardless of who is calling flames games there will be always be plenty of CP people bashing them. It's getting pretty annoying, almost to the point where some of the people here need to start watching the game on mute.

I've noticed a clear cycle.

"I Hate this guy we need a new guy"
"Finally a new guy!"
"I hate this new guy"
"I miss the old guy"

I'm not sure how he'd be embarrassing, but I don't really like him as a PBP guy. It feels like someone told him he needed to ramp up the excitement and his dial only has a 2 and a 10.

He is getting better. I'm guessing he comes significantly cheaper than his predecessors which is a big reason he'll be around for a while.

Not gonna beat around the bush, he's by far the worst play by play guy I've heard do Flames games regularly and he makes the broadcast seem extremely amateur. Just doesn't reflect the professional aesthetic you want in a pro sports league. That goes for Sportsnet broadcasts as a whole too.

Nothing personal, I actually agree he's a solid radio host.

Compared to other sports I watch and even other NHL broadcasts the whole thing is second rate.

I just hate how high pitched his voice gets at random times.

I totally disagree with comments regarding him getting better.

He is as awful as he has always been. He seems like a nice guy, but PBP is definitely not his suited profession.

A PBP man should have a certain gravitas.

Rob Kerr is some kind of downgrade in play-by-play commentary.

Embarassing is a strong word. I think awkward is more accurate.

Hell of a guy, loved him as a radio host, but his play by play is not polished and it shows.

For a play by play guy, he seems to only call the play like 30-50% of the time. The rest of the time, while the play is going on, he is talking about some random stat or player.

On the bright side, I think he has a good voice for the job.

To be fair, him and Loubo both have higher-pitched 'excited' voices.

And both sound a bit quirky in their own way.

But I've been loving listening to Loubo in the afternoons. I feel like he must continue to have a place in the Flames radio/television in the future. Always provides insight about each player, as most times he's watched/followed/known them personally from the roots of their careers and can actually share an informed opinion, unlike like these pinheaded tv panel conformists that can only reiterate the most obvious knowledge of superstars and/or 1st overall picks that absolutely everybody but the dalai lama already knows.
