Not sure how to post this because it's only the AHL.com Transaction page, but it looks like D Mark Cundari has been traded to the Chicago Wolves for C Corey Locke.

Huge loss for the Heat as Cundari was one of the better defenceman.

the way I interpret this is that he's still Flames property, but they have assigned him to another team ... much like they did with Wahl and Seabrook back then. The Wolves are sending Locke in return ... not an NHL trade since Locke is on an AHL deal.

Looking at the Heat roster, they had 10 defencemen and I guess Cundari is no longer in our plans, so someone had to go.

Either way, it looks like he's not in the Flames' plans.

Still flames property but the writing is on the wall. These type of trades rarely see the player coming back to the organization.

IMO writing is on the wall for Cundari. You don't give up an asset to another team if you want him to develop into an NHL'er.

On loan or traded, losing Cundari off the Heat blueline is a HUGE loss. He's been a big part of the offense from the blueline (aside from Billins).
