Team Canada 2.0 roster. Where do you think this team would rank?
Canada can dress 2 rosters since they have so much talent. I thought it would be fun to make a Team Canada 2.0 roster. Here it is:
Couture-Thornton-Giroux
Hall-Seguin-St.Louis
Neal-E.Staal-Eberle
Lucic-M.Richards-Ladd
Skinner, Marchand
Giordano-Seabrook
M.Staal-Boyle
Phaneuf-Letang
Beauchemin, Green
Fleury, Crawford, Harding/Bernier
Where do you think this team would place if it were also in Sochi 2014?

If I'm comparing them to my list from the other thread:
1. Canada 1.0
2. Sweden
3. USA
4. Canada 2.0
5. Finland
6. Slovakia
7. Russia
8. Czech
9. Switzerland
10 - 13 who cares

Lol what? Nothing to do with Oilers, was just making a potential 2nd Canada thread. What would your team be?

Obviously Hall and Eberle would make it. I'd rate them 4th or 5th.

Iginla is on any second team. His season has been one of his best all round seasons in the last three or four years. On pace for close to 30 goals, and leads a league leading team in +/-.
Marchand off of your team, Eberle to the press box, Ladd up a line, and Iginla on the Richards line,.

In a one off game Team 2.0 could beat Team Canada.
They would be in medal contention for sure.

It's hilarious that RNH wouldn't even make a second Canadian team.

They really should treat ice hockey the same way they treat other sports and allow countires to have multiple entrants. If the team qualifies, they're in.

Iginla with Lucic is fair. Was considering putting him there and leaving Marchand off the team as you mentioned.

That's absolutely insane depth Canadian hockey has.
Make a "2.0" version of the top 8 teams at the Olympics and put them up against the OP's roster in a 2nd tourney, and Canada probably wipes the floor with every team at that tourney.

I don't think it is hilarious, it just shows how deep Canada is at Center/Forward.

Yeah, there are guys who were left off this roster that were invited to the 40 man orientation camp over the summer that could have made a Team Canada 3.0 roster haha: Hamonic and Alzner on defense, J. Staal up front and Holtby in net.

It's off topic, but since we're playing what ifs... what if Czechoslovakia never broke up and there was no BS involved with the selection process, where would this team rank?
Goalies:
Ondřej Pavelec
Peter Budaj
Jaroslav Halak
Defense:
Marek Židlický
Ladislav Šmíd
Michal Rozsíval
Zbyněk Michálek
Zdeno Chara,
Andrej Meszaros,
Andrej Sekera,
Lubomir Visnovsky,
Forwards:
Jaromír Jágr
Patrik Eliáš
Tomáš Plekanec
Jakub Voráček
Martin Hanzal
Vladimír Sobotka
Ondřej Palát
Milan Michálek
David Krejčí
Marian Gaborik
Michal Handzus
Marian Hossa
Tomas Kopecky
Jiri Hudler
I think that team can easily compete for a medal. Maybe not as good as Canada or Sweden, but definitely in the same league as USA.
What about the USSR team.... never mind, that team would still be hot garbage + Girgensons.

Anything to get some Oilers on TC, eh Oilfan
To be fair you have put Giordano in the mix, so you can't be all bad.
The question is: can any other nation put out a 2nd team as good as Canada could? I doubt Russia could. Finland has really become a powerhouse in the last decade but their depth isn't quite there. Maybe the Yanks could put out a half-decent 2.0...

In all seriousness, I think canada team 2 would be just as likely to win as Canada 1. The talent level is still very high, and the team would have "something to prove". The team may not have the top end talent of some other teams, but other than Canada 1, lines 2-4 would be as good or better than any other team.
The entire Canada 2 team would still be stars on their NHL teams.

Probably on the third team.
