Flames Heckle XI

The Heckle - Once a year a hockey team formed through Cp and a team formed through Oilfans meet somewhere between Calgary and Edmonton to play our own Battle of Alberta.

Because of a disappointing loss last year the current records are CalgaryPuck: 5-4-1, OilFans: 5-4-1

Heckle XI is going to be held Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 1:00pm at the ENMAX Centrium in Red Deer.

We aren't sure what the total cost is just yet but it's usually $20.

Post Game Meet up is TBD

As usual, veterans get the first spots and rookies will be placed on a waiting list. Yes, rookies do get in the game every year, so no bitching. Rookies, please post if this is your first Heckle

We field a full team of 18 skaters and 2 goalies

Full equipment is recommended, but not required.
CalgaryPuck always wears red.

I hate for you to find out this way but... if you're going to make it awkward for everyone I guess we'll have you.

I'm in for coaching. I should be able to make it this year.

I'll warn you though, my Heckle coaching resume is far from impressive.

I would like to get back in the line up if possible. Can play forward or D, but usually play D in this event, often paired with soulchoice.

My post-Heckle antics are far from impressive, or extremely impressive, depending on your point of view, morals and value system.

Im finally going to put my name in for this. I'm a dman by trade, but seeing as defense/physicality is usually a rarity in pick up hockey I usually prefer forward in these types of situations. But I dont really care.

I'm a pretty good player, I would probably want to play against the highest available competition in any league I would consider joining.

So if we do this again do we have to see if they'll even let us back into the pub?

I put you down as D for now, I find in these types of games that a strong defence wins the game.

I've been back to the scene of the "crime" at least twice since that fateful evening!

sounds good. Whats the body contact rules? Nothing more frustating as a dman in pick up hockey when a guy with good hands can go through you everytime because you cant lay a finger on him.

It's not a contact game, despite full gear. Similar as any beer league

We do a sign up sheet every year rather than assume vets are in. It
s a popular event so we need to do first come, first serve. Do you wan in again this year?

HAHA this is the reason I stopped playing D when I started playing rec hockey. You can take the body but you can't "body check", if that makes sense?
