Default Coach of the Flames: 2014/15

I figure this is as good a time as any to ask the question, being that the distaste for Hartley is at a high and it seems unlikely that his remaining tenure is going to be long.

Out of the currently plausible options, who do you want to be the next coach of the Calgary Flames? and (if it's different) who do you think WILL be the next coach of the Flames? Do you think Hartley is going to stay past this season? Or will he be replaced?

Personally, even though it's tough to call being that we don't have a GM, my money is on Hartley being let go in the summer, and I'm hoping Troy Ward takes his place. He seems to be good for the younger guys, and has taken a pretty average AHL team on paper and made then super competitive.

I could also see Laviolette getting hired, and despite his last season or so of work, that wouldn't bother me at all.

Hopefully Troy Ward. He seems to have a system figured out and can get his players to buy in.

Carlyle. I wouldn't mind Ward though.

I'm not sold on Ward at all. His teams get off to a good start every season and than start falling. The Heat seem to be following the same pattern this season.

I actually had to look him up, had no idea he was an assistant with the Heat. You really think he'd get the job over Ward if they're hiring from within?

This.

he has maybe the lowest talent level team in the entire league, yet they are rarely out of games and almost across the board are able to outwork teams.

No other coach will do any better with what he has and pobably will do worse.

Of course the caveat to all this is when Burke hires a GM, that guy will probably want his own guy behind the bench.

personally i think the most important thing this team needs right now is some stability and a vision...and a plan to get them there. I believe Hartley has the intelligence and acumen for all of that, but not sue he will get a chance to do so.

Totally random thought but maybe Andy Murray. Still think it's pretty impressive he took a 15th place Blues team to the playoffs. But more likely Troy Ward.

No way it's Wilson. Burke inherited him in TO and likely lost his job because of Wilson.

They might be friends, but no way do they work together as gm and coach again in the nhl.

Troy Ward. He's shown he's a good at teaching young players which is what we'll need for the next couple of years.

Without knowing who gets let go by summer, I say go with Hartley.

Troy Ward deserves a chance in the NHL. The Flames should be much younger next season. I think he'll be a good fit.

I dont doubt what you are saying, but it cant be that hard to get buy in from AHL guys trying to reach the NHL. They know they have to in order to make it. Prob a whole different game plan when it comes to motivation at the NHL level.
