December 21, eleven games!
A busy Saturday just before Christmas with some good games that can be seen on regular television. The CBC, NHL Network USA, and RDS all have continuous doubleheaders today!
In the third period, the Senators have a 3-2 lead over the Coyotes. This game is not on HNIC. The new contract would have this game on HNIC but that is for next year and it cannot come soon enough.
Late in the first period on
in the USA
and in french
at
It is scoreless with the hot rookie goalie, Martin Jones, in goal for the Kings.

Sens choked again. Lost 4-3 in overtime on a Antoine Vermette hat trick.
LA is beating Colorado silly. 2-0 midway through the game, but the Avs haven't threatened at all in the second.

The Senators are jinxed, there is no better way to say it.
The Avalanche appear to be completely out of sync with the afternoon start.

Whoa.. Peter Holland 39.6% on faceoffs this year. We should trade for him.. he'd fit in.
EDIT: interesting that young guys are all among the worst faceoffs guy in the league - Seguin is the lowest on the NHL list at 40.6%, then RNH at 41.8, Kadri, Scheifele... Monohan is 82nd of 88 players, Colborne 77). Backlund (not exactly a young pup) is at 75 and Stajan at 68.

Similar to what PeteMoss said, the Predators are playing Predatorless. The Habs lead 3-0 and scored all three goals in a span of 3:07. Subban, Pacioretty, and Plekanec are the goal scorers. The shots are closer, 8-7 for the Canadiens. Mazance was pulled after that, Hutton is in goal for Nashville now.
I wonder if the CBC is wishing that they showed the Flames or Senators afternoon games instead.

Oh sure, Datsyuk whines about Toronto deliberately knocking the net off and the refs don't call a penalty. The zebras can't even be intimidated consistently.

Phaneuf misses a wide open goal (Gustaffson with a nice/lucky save) and then Kessel laughs at Phaneuf when they get back to the bench. Too funny.

December 21, eleven games!
Seth Jones got a slapshot to the face and hasn't returned yet.
EDIT: the Preds say he isn't returning tonight.

haha oh man, the Oilers are 4 games from the midway point and have 25 points.
It's amazing what a gong show they are.

Unfortunately, he's been failing to shoot high-and-wide since. Scored a goal and nearly had another. Hard to believe that he went 25 games without a goal. Not looking forward to Burke giving him a giant contract next summer.

Just noticed in the standings, as bad as Buffalo has been - and they have been epically horrible - the Oilers have actually caught them in the all-important loss column. Records now:
Edm: 11-23-3
Buff: 9-23-3
Truly incredible how bad the Oil are
