yeah I can handle it, I've been a contractor and done a lot of general work like this. I just haven't been doing it since I moved here and don't know what places are best to get supplies.

You were a contractor? Construction/Carpentry, or IT contractor? I find the former hard to believe given the nature and lingo used of the posts. This thread is so generic its painful to read.
Where to get paint, but you don't want the good stuff? Just go wherever is closest then. Rona, Walmart, HD, all sell paint. You've been shopping before?
Anywhere in NW to rent a carpet cleaner? Yes, every grocery store, again, you've been out before?
How am I supposed to know anything about what type of chair is best for your house? There are millions of types and hundreds of place to buy them. Get the one with the thingy and the legs

I don't need the best quality paint (I've fixed drywall before so I know how to do it)
2. I need to clean my carpets, I remember when I was young the co-op by my house had those big carpet cleaners you could rent but I haven't seen a single one in ages besides the ones that are >$300 in places like Target. Are there any places in the NW where I can rent one?
3. I need new chairs for my living room. The living room is half work area with my computer and half for fun with a tv, I want to get 2 computer chairs that are comfortable and durable. Everytime I buy a chair it ends up being really uncomfortable, the chair I have now has no upper back support so it's not relaxing at all sitting in it. I need something that doesn't give me horrible back pain and has complete back support.
I live near Crowfoot and would appreciate anyone can give me (want to do it all myself instead of hiring anyone as I'll have time over the Christmas break). Thanks

The Safeway and Rona in Crowfoot both rent carpet cleaners.

I've owned multiple construction/landscaping companies, fixed septic tanks, fixed lawnmowers, repainted a cabin, built retaining walls by myself etc. etc. my lingo is the lazy version because I'm studying for finals. I am most certain I can patch some drywall and repaint a basement.

I don't mean to be a tool, but any home owner newbie should know where to go to get paint.......given your vast experience, doing the repair should be the easy step for you, it seems the difficult part of the job for you will be to locate the material in one of the many places where these goods are sold.
I am assuming that you know this, but I'll say it anyways....cheap paint looks cheap and wears poorly....spend money, it is worth it......if you want good paint, go directly to a Benjamin Moore store.

Agreed. I only use Benjamin Moore and it is far superior to almost any other paint. Behr is also really good but I get 40% off at BM so I only use their paint. General paint is a good cheap alternative. Not great but good. Never use Cloverdale paint or the cheap stuff from Home Depot.
