Enmax
Hey I am new to Calgary and just got a place last month and got my ENMAX Bill.
So in essence my wife who like to save every penny and not using electricity, water what have you.
So we used about $60 in service and had like $120 in admin fees.
We used no natural gas during the Oct Billing period but had the pleasure of paying some $32.00 in fees for using nothing. Great.
That's baked!
I can't wait to see my Nov bill given the cold snap.
Mitten surcharge
Wear an tear on thermostat admin fee
Trying to save too much obligatory overcharge.
Yowza.
So I have $1,100 in built in fees for the year....that was more than I paid all of last year for usage in BC.

Were they admin fees, or tariffs and riders? There's a pretty big difference.

Hey I like rivalries and all, but the only rival the Canucks have is with the hangman - to see who is the bigger choker

The servicing fees are set by the gov and will be the same with any distributor.
I am surprised you didnt use any natural gas at all for October. Didnt have the heater or furnace on, turned it off so not even the pilot light was on?
The admin fees dont change with the amount you use.
Not many choices out there to go with, Honestly Enmax is one of the better ones out there. Especially if you combine your electricity and natural gas with them.

Yep, EasyMax is by far the best option I have tried.

I assume you are now paying less with who? Epcor, Direct Energy, Trans Alta? Any insight as to how they are better than Enmax - honestly I would like to know.
As a City of Calgary taxpayer I would rather if I need to purchase something that if the City has it for a reasonable price compared to the competition then my money will go to them there by lowering my CoC property taxes (small amount but every little bit helps).

Epcor and Direct energy. Epcor admin fees are between 20-30 per month. A lot more reasonable than the $120+ per month we were paying with Enmax. Fortis is also available in Chestermere.

Nobody pays 120 bucks in admin fees. And Trans Alta isn't a distributor. Atco Electric services Chestermere, IIRC. Might be Fortis.
You're mixing up terms and providers to a point where I'm really not sure what you're talking about, but I doubt Atco's tariffs are 1/6th of Enmax's.

The Enmax bill would have also included water and recycling fees.
What do you pay per month from Chestermere.

For water/sewer/garbage pick up it is usually about $60 per month,
Electricity is usually between $90-110 per month with a $25 admin fee from Epcor.
Gas changes but it is cheaper just because I live in a newer house with HE.

The better question- how many KW/h's do you use, and what does the electricty portion of your bill come to?
It is possible they have lumped all the extra line items into a single line. Which may be a better way to charge for electricity; but if the bill is still the same......

This is roughly the same as ENMAX for me. I average $260 per month for the whole year for a modern 1800 sqft home.

Fortis is merely a wire provider, not a retailer and yes Chestermere is in the FortisAlberta territory.
You will pay on an electrical bill fees for:
- Distribution Connection
- Transmission Connection
- Retailer Charges
A helpful link that explains the many different charges you may see on a utility bill.
