Ongoing Fukushima Thread
I know there is a couple threads about Fukushima including:
pray for no earthquakes in Japan
& the original
8.9 Magnitude quake hits offshore Japan
But I wanted to start one where the name “Fukushima” was in the title, so it’s easy to find and update.
I know there are some pretty smart people on this board with varying degrees of skepticism and opposing opinions that feel the truth is out there.
Basically I think there is a ton to talk about with this nuclear disaster and how it is impacting us today, 2 years later it’s still a mess. I am getting more and more emails/facebook posts from friends and family about the potential dangers in our food and water.
I hate believing sites like this one. http://www.pakalertpress.com/2013/01/24/the-radiation-warnings-you-wont-get-from-the-mainstream-propaganda-machine/
But at the same time even more legitimate news sites are not painting a pretty picture over there. To snub the idea that money and nuclear power might be influencing what and how much the government is telling us seems naive.
To be honest – maybe it’s silly, but I like coming here to see both sides of a coin. Are there differing opinions here? Is our food really as contaminated as this site and other like it would have us believe? Should I be avoiding sushi?
I’d like to start this thread to get the conversation going and hopefully get a better, balanced understanding of the reality.

I wouldn't worry about the food issue too much.
My favourite go to link for radiation is xkcd's radiation graph. That should really help put the levels we're talking about into perspective

There were no deaths caused by radiation exposure, while approximately 18,500 people died due to the earthquake and tsunami.

My favorite wiki quote on the subject when people talk about the "Fukushima" disaster.

Other recent articles from that site has Obama wanting to create one world government to enslave the world, and that martial law will be declared in the US in October.
I wouldn't trust a single statement from that site.

When I google for "Fukushima radiation" globalresearch.ca,infowars, prisonplanet, and zerohedge are all in the top 9 results.
This is what happens when you give dumb people and fearmongers a megaphone.

What about the stories of Fukishima workers who were "sacrificing" themselves to keep the plant from melting down? There were stories of workers who received high dosages of radiation and they knew they would die within days but were doing so for the greater good?

It is referred to here - another thread I found but I didn't link it in OP as I kind of thought old news. But since you posed the question, and given the Wikipedia quote - more relevant than I had guessed

6.8 now, with a 1 meter tall tsunami. Sounds pretty minor to me

Was a bit of a shake but no breaches or tsunami breaking over embankments reported.
