I think Kane has to be Mr Clutch. The guy seems like a jerk but he's hot and after hitting the post, you knew he was just going to score sooner or later. I think Kane has been Mr Clutch for a while for them.

Sven hasn't played well but I think Berra deserves the horns from last night.

You could flip a quarter for the goat. Sven not only iced the puck late but if he scores on that open net and the score becomes 3-0 the game probably never comes down to a late icing call. It's a shame but that last period was just a bad one for him as he had the opportunity to become the hero and ended up a goat.

Berra on the other hand isn't a polished product yet. There's a lot of good undone by a few awful plays every game. That 1st goal was one of the worst I have seen this season as I'm still not clear why he felt he had to go fishing when Kane is at a harmless angle and there was no threat of a pass turning into a scoring chance. Dumb like that goal last week when he skated to the blueline to chase for a loose puck. The 3rd goal was simply him being schizophrenic in the net when he really only needed to be calm and follow the puck and get in front of the shot via positioning.

Dead on. His overplaying the puck is costing the team games...granted the icing was crap, and giveaways are rough...but goals banking in off of him are from being in terrible spots out of position.

As much as I personally like Hjalmarsson, I'm going to have to agree with Poe here and say that there can only be one highland... uh, "Mr.Clutch"... and that guy is Patrick Kane every damn day.

Good write up though, enjoyed it!

My "Game Take" spans observation of two games...My 'Hawks had their "Alberta Swing" of the "Annual Circus Trip"...Monday the Oil, yesterday, the Flames.

The take: There is only ONE "TEAM" in Alberta...the other is a heartless group of "Pond Hockey" players that have a lower commitment to Defense and teammates than an All-Star Midget squad that are showing off for Mom.

Looks like a game we could have, possibly should have, won. Gotta close those ones out against great teams, more often than not you'll be on the wrong side the score of an out of reach game instead. Full marks to the Hawks for coming back, hopefully the Flames learned a thing or two about shutting the door.

Keith and Kane are playing out of their minds right now. And yet Toews is their best player. Yikes.

I was impressed with the Flames effort. Baertschi's shot goes in and it is probably a different result.

I can take the loses as long as the Flames are actually competitive against the upper echelon teams in the west. Hanging in the games against the likes of L.A and Chicago make these rebuilds easier to digest. Even better since the Flames have wins against these teams.

Still need to learn how to lock the game down going into the third with a good lead though. It'll come around. Still very early yet.

I agree on the goat but more for the fact that a wide open net miss makes it 3-0 and a totally different game. On the game winner he had more help. Surprise surprise Butler was out there and even had the puck hit him before ending up on Kanes stick.

Not surprised that they blew the lead and lost. called 3-2 Chicago to the warden right after Sven hit the post. Should have just gone to bed instead of watching the last 10 minutes
