Yale University ordered students and staff to "shelter in place" Monday after an anonymous caller told police that his roommate wanted to shoot up the school and was heading to the main campus with a rifle, according to police.
The university, located in New Haven, Conn., issued its lockdown order on its website at 10:17 a.m. ET.
Really a non-story at this point. There was a tip of a roommate going to campus to shoot. Is there actually a roommate/gunman who knows?
College campuses in CT are not Gun Free Zones by law, but Yale is one by school rules. Yes the roommate call in tip reports differently, but seeing someone on campus with a gun should not be immediate cause for concern. So far the reports I'm reading have the witnesses of spotting gunmen questioning if they actually just saw police officers.

One of the biggest and most prestigious schools in the world is in lockdown because of the all-too-often threat of a gunman.

Do you mean like in the wacky world of the NRA utopian society where all teachers carry guns and everyone else in junior high and up, or do you mean like Sandy Hook and Columbine, nothing to worry about.

So it's normal to see a student walking around campus with a rifle?
Yale students are on Thanksgiving break this week. Not much activity on campus.
