San Jose/New Jersey
San Jose made another move this weekend to bulk up their offensive skills by bringing in forward Chris Kunitz from New Jersey in exchange for their captain, Ryan Callahan, and budding prospect Connor Murphy.
Callahan was a great captain and will be missed, but the Sharks need someone who can put up points, and Kunitz high offensive skills will help bolster a top line that has been floundering. With the addition of Williams and Kunitz, the Sharks now have a more veteran presence up front which they hope will balance things out. Murphy is knocking on the door with the Coyotes and will no doubt be a quality defenseman moving forward. Once again we were able to deal from a strength to help fill a need.
We wish Callahan the best in his new home and once again thank you to NJ for the very civil, level headed and overall pleasant talks. Was a quick deal because both sides showed a lot of respect and came with quality offers. The Sharks are STILL looking to make more moves, particularly at center and on defense. So let's get more pleasant talks like these going on!
