#KONY2012 is a movement spreading like wildfire through social media right now to stop the injustices of Jospeh Kony in Uganda. Kony has been kidnapping children and recruiting them into his army and killing many people. If you haven't seen the video already watch it, it is a bit long but very well done.

Normally I would rant about the use of hashtags outside of twitter, but this is an exception. Crazy to see how much this has spread in the past 6 hours.

Ah yes... the old "Tweet it or make a Facebook status update about it so we can feel better about ourselves" campaign. Where no one actually does anything.

Definitely a lot of movement on Facebook. It's a good start, but people actually need to contact their political representatives in order for this campaign to actually show some results. I'm seeing a lot of people posting about how they're going to buy the kit but are these same people going to take the time and write/call their MP?

I've already been invited to four events on Facebook.

Especially odd, considering I don't think I have four friends on Facebook.

Spreading all over my facebook. I've gotten at least 3 different Kony event invites.

Looks like the company makes around $5 million from their efforts, from what I see in this anyways...

Well... their work already triggered the US to help by putting 100 military advisors on the ground. It looks like they are doing something.

Here's an interesting counter-view on the organization behind this.

http://visiblechildren.tumblr.com/

Heck, almost 3% of the expenses of the organization are going towards salary of 3 employees. That seems hefty.

This whole thing screams "I just get got my arts degree, time to go make a difference in Africa" to me.

Well done chaps, keep that beautiful brain always questioning!

Absolutely crazy how overnight this is rocking social media...in Canada alone on twitter, 6 of the 10 trending topics are Kony related....4 out of 10 worldwide.

A 30 minute youtube video? I only watch ones that long that are picking apart the Star Wars prequels.

This was on Reddit...

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/20...ets_christians

Clearly this charity has some explaining to do, but as for the cause itself, Obviously worthy.

Rush Limbaugh is the most destructive force in America... I had no idea he was this bad.

Make sure you read the last paragraph in the link. Gives great insight to how Rush manipulates stories and targets people he knows aren't intelligent enough to come to their own conclusion.
