Good writeup overall, but I think the title of Mr. Clutch should of gone to Monahan due to the 8th round SO goal.
Baertchi did have a great game and could of easily had the hard hat instead of Monahan. His best game of the season and a 3 game point streak. He may turn into a player who can be as hot as anyone when his confidence is high.

Oli Jokinen had an awesome game tonight. 21 and 8 in the faceoff circle, a goal, 6 shots, skated well all night. Too many others for him to be a star, but still deserves props tonight.
I liked Obrien and Smd tonight as well. Nice to see some grit on the back end

The progression of Brodie and his game is amazing. Maybe he's starting to believe what Hartley has been saying about him. If this continues we could one day see Brodie winning a Norris trophy.

Great write up. Thanks for getting it up so quick.
I love this rebuild. This win comes at the perfect time, and you couldn't write a better ending than to have Monahan pop it as the 6th shooter in front of a VERY hostile crowd.
Berra has impressed me in every game. I know there have been some shaky goals, but he reminds me of a lot of our young guys - lots of really encouraging flashes. Once he gets more experience, and is able to play behind a D group that has their leader back, he might be a legit #1.
All that with our best defenseman and best 2 way forward out, and dare I say it... a lock for a lottery pick, with Cammalleri driving up his trade bait value with each game.
Best rebuild ever (so far).

I wouldn't agree that the Flames will miss the playoffs, not yet anyways.
I thought Reto Berra and Matt Stajan could have been stars as well instead of Mike Cammalleri tonight. Even though Cammelleri still had a good game with a goal and an assist.
Sven Baertschi had an okay game, the assist and his play on the 4th goal pretty much saved his night. Effort means little if the points aren't there for a guy like Sven. He's a point getter first and foremost in my opinion. Three assists in the last 3 games is fine but 2 losses to Dallas and Edmonton.
I hope he can keep it going here though for the next few games. The team is counting on Sven a lot and he has to be one of the best players every night.

woah woah woah…he's barely passing the sniff test as a defenseman who DOESN'T give the puck away regularly. He has an awful plus/minus right now. Let's not overstate things. I'd be happy with a #2 career defenseman who can create offensively.

When you look at the 8th place team's record, it becomes really unlikely that the Flames will make the playoffs right now, never mind in another month when they stay on their current point pace. The east has to beat the crap out of the top teams in the west for the Flames to have a shot at the playoffs, and I don't see that happening this year.

Why don't you sit the next few plays out Brick..
Sven Baertschi easily had his best game of the season. You are implying that the Flames losing makes his point streak useless? The team is not counting on Sven a lot, he's been downplayed this season and plays 2nd-3rd line minutes.
Anything we get from him is bonus as a team should be looking to it's vet's and happy when rookies are chipping in. Baertschi had a good game in all 3 zones, you can't ask much more than that (apart from him to score in the shootout).

Good write up but I think you have the Goat wrong.
No shortage of candidates but Butler's horns were so long tonight that had should have had holes cut in his helmet so they could come out. He was horrible from his useless starfish slide on Joikinen's pass in first to the perfect screen on Berra for Joikinen's goal he was just plain bad.
Then add in the embarassment of Byfuglien dragging him and Smid around at the same time. Wow he is useless drop the stick you pansy.

Agree. Although Backlund failure to clear immediately preceded the goal, it was Butler's brainless loss of the puck at the blue line that started the mess in the Flames' zone that led to the first 'Peg goal.

Great game for Baertschi his best of the season, but Mr clutch? Think it should have gone to Monahan with out a doubt.

Man that Colborne shoutout move was sweet. Those hands! You wonder what's missing for him that he just can't put it all together with those hands and his size. Can't really think about one player that stood out as having a bad game but this game as exciting as it was kind of masks that team defense is still horrendous on this team and the Jets are a good matchup because they are pretty poor as well in their own end. You aren't going to win many games that you give up 40+ shots.
Has a team ever gone through an 82 game season without getting a shutout? I find it hard to imagine this team will be able to shut out any team this season as limiting a team to 2 goals almost seems unreachable.

Goat of the game ---- Hartley
He had Stempniak on the ice with the Jets having the goalie pulled.
Stempniak floats back on the game tying goal does nothing useful at all. Floats in behind Ladd on his drive to the net pinning Brodie to look after Ladd and totally leaves Little in open ice.
Boy do the Flames miss Glencross.

Stempniak is one of our most reliable two way forwards, and you're blaming Hartley for choosing him to be out there?
Agenda much?

If it would have been 47 on the uniform instead of 22 Hartley would be blasting the kid for being lost on the ice and having a lot of work to do.
If it would have been 20 rather than 22 on the uniform half of CP would be wanting the lazy lost Glencross benched/traded /sent to the minors.
Maybe it is Stempniak's broken foot but he is -3, -1,-1 in the last 3 games.
