Default Confirmed: MacDonald on waivers

Maybe we see Berra sooner rather than later

@FriedgeHNIC: Apparently, CAL told Joey MacDonald he will be going on waivers today. Always been a fan of his, maybe some teams that need help will look.

It's about time, he's looked really shaky in the net. We can't do any worse with Ramo and Berra than we did with Ramo and MacDonald

He made some big saves, but usually because he kicked a rebound out into the slot or was caughtbout of position. He definitely doesn't give the Flames the best shot to win.

With that said, just because he is on waivers it doesn't mean he is going anywhere right away(I'll be shocked if he is picked up). It just means that at some point in the next few weeks we will probably see Berra brought up.

Joey Mac made some spectacular saves to start the season, but he has let in some rather weak goals (as evidenced by last two goals last night)...

Cannot do any worse with Berra - and not to worried that MacDonald gets picked up off waivers, if this indeed is true.

As per the AHL Transaction page, Reto Berra was recalled by the Flames last night with Chad Billins. Probably explains why he did not start last night for Abby despite looking like he would earlier that day.

Keep in mind: Twice this year already Berra has been pulled after the first period after letting in 3 goals in less then 10 shots. Yes, he can be good but he has been very shaky for Abbotsford as well.

Friedman thinks some teams out there might take a chance. Always the chance he clears and we send him on a contract for contract trade. But the right call nonetheless:

Elliotte Friedman ‏@FriedgeHNIC 31m
MacDonald's played pretty well in some "need help quick" situations -- there are a few situations like that (CAR, EDM, NASH).

I hope he gets picked up. Rather they just roll with Ramo and Berra. Granted i think after this season the flames will be looking for a new starter.

Muta is sad. Thinks Joey Mac is a late bloomer like Tim Thomas.

I'm happy only because this is a quicker way to figure out if the Flames have anything in Ramo or Berra or if they need to reevaluate completely for next season.

@FriedgeHNIC: Flames are going to call up Reto Berra to see him at NHL level and want Joni Ortio to play in AHL.

Finally. Roll with Ramo-Berra to see if either can be here next year.

Good riddance.

Can't believe this scrub had the nerve to call out the rest of the team last night.

Godspeed Joey Mac.

Should make a good backup out there. Being on a defensively reliable team might help a little bit, not that it ever really did in Detroit though.

Mac played way better in his time here than I thought he would. Really tough spot to be put in (filling the skates of the best goalie in Flames history), and for the most part he really preformed admirably. This isn't to say that his time in Calgary or the system is over, but I'm sure he was well aware that his situation was a precarious one with the Flames.

He stepped in and did his job when they needed him to, and by all accounts he's a pretty quality human being. Whatever happens from here, thanks Joey and best of luck in the future.
