Good for them and the team I suppose.

Deal works out to 7 mil a year, until 2017-2018 deal where they will be 37 years old.

Tough to evaluate. I think the term makes sense for the team, but over the last 2 years they could well end up being 2+M overpaid. Given some of the deals handed out lately though, and given how they've started the season, it was conceivable they'd get 7.5AAV for even longer.
Part of it depends on where the cap goes over the next 4 years but I'm inclined to say this isn't a good deal but it's not a bad deal either and it's probably what you have to pay guys like this at this stage.

That's fair value for the first couple years. They drive the offense for the Canucks.

Fine by me. They won't be able to afford a proper supporting cast with 20 mil tied up in Luo and the Twins.

I'm not so sure about that. There have been rumblings that the cap could be approaching $75M in a year or two.

The twins look to be rebounding from a mediocre season last year but I will be curious to see how they are performing by the end of the year as they looked worn out last year. Canucks had no choice here as without them they are probably looking up at the Oilers in the standings as they seem to be the catalyst for most of their offense.

That's a good contract for them. They took a slight discount in their last deal, get paid a bit more in the latter years for this one. They will still be highly productive at age 37.
It also leaves things open for them, in 4 years if they still don't have that Cup and would like to try their like elsewhere they have a 3-4 year window to make it happen.

Looks good for both sides. Canuck fans can't be too upset with it.

The Canucks look like the Flames circa 2007-2009. Decent team, and should be a playoff team, but has enough holes on it that they shouldn't go very far. Their prospect pool looks somewhat similar to our teams then too.

Good deal for both sides IMO. They'll probably finish their careers with the 'Nucks.

If they didn't have to go everywhere hand-in-hand together, they likely could have received more on the open market, but being a package deal limits their options.
This puts the Nucks just under $60M in cap hit for next season, with 15 players signed. As long as the cap goes up as expected, they shouldn't be in any cap trouble.
