Some wanted Windows 9, others rumoured it was going to be Windows One, so it's both! 9+1=10

Still a year away from release.

It's going to be interesting to see how much more it evolves. I never warmed up to Windows 8.

Alternately Microsoft uses a base 9 numbering system internally, so 10 comes after 8.

8 really did blow, atleast from a UI perspective. Did they acheive any success with 8?

Already. My dad is freaking 80 something and the transition from 7 to 8 almost killed me

How do you do this, where's my menu bars. How come the email looks so stupid, I'm old and I can't find solitaire.

Come on Microsoft, can you at least wait until I can fool my dad into thinking an etch a sketch is a laptop?

Always stoked for a new Windows revision, since the APIs for games continually get better. UIs are always easily fixed with 3rd party shells anyhow.

They should have called it Windows 8 cause this is what 8 should have been.

So is this just Windows 6.3, or is it actually a new release?

This is exactly what windows 8 should have been. Unique environments that change from one to the other depending on if your using a touchscreen or keyboard/mouse. Hopefully it's possible to change the default applications based on touch mode this time.

hmmmmm

I run Windows 7 at the office and it does fine. The problem is going to be with the used high output laser printers I picked up for a steal at an auction. They are absolutely fantastic for the amount we use them. There are no drivers built for them past Windows 7, so any move forward off of Windows 7 will be problematic for me at work.

I still have Windows Vista and the next move is gonna kill me. I freaked out when I saw Windows 8 and like your dad I asked where are my menu bars and such. In the end I got my machine fixed.
