Roman Jedlicka @jedli6h Roman Hamrlik calls it a career. He will officially say it at the press conference in Montreal next week.
Was a great stabilizing force for Phaneuf. Wish him the best.
He was also one of the biggest free agent signings the team was able to muster at the time and IMO it helped improve the image of the club as a destination at a time we were struggling to lure players.

Agreed.
Amonte and McCarty signings that first year post Cup was showing that the team success the season before was starting to pay off as far as the team's reputation; the Hamrlik one was more important because of the fact they had a solid mentor, playing in his prime, ideal for Phaneuf to emulate.
Solid, underrated player for the Flames and after.
Also, Roman was one of the guys that criticized Fehr and stood by his comments, not caring about the thinly veiled threats that he knew would be coming as far as blowback from other members of the PA.

I always thought that he was a good player, but more importantly he made his d partner a better player by filling in the gaps in the other player's game.
I don't want to say that he was under rated, because he wasn't, but perhaps under appreciated is more apt.
Good luck Roman!
