...And Baertschi Too!
With all the (justified) love towards Monahan on here and in the media, Baertschi is in the shadows a bit. But 4 points in his first 5 games, and 2 absolutely beautiful feeds to Monahan in the last 2 games for clutch goals. And away from the puck he's playing physical and with a lot of determination, he's becoming one of the Flames best players along the boards
I don't think I've been this legitimately excited about the Flames future since just after '04

Baertschi has been the best flame the past two games. Skating hard, getting back defensively and making plays. Future looks promising for him if he can continue to do this he will only get stronger/smarter and have more confidence.

just a tremendous pass - he made a few of them tonight
he is a playmaker, and guys like him need two things:
ice time, and talented players to play with

I figured Sven would be more of a sniper, but he's got quite the playmaking ability in his arsenal. That pass tonight was amazing.
Maybe having some other young hotshot to take the limelight away was a good thing. He's getting better as the season goes on.

I concur.
I think Bart and Mona are going to be a force in the coming years... Perhaps a Toews/Kane- like duo... One can hope.

Sven is a sniper...He's not getting dished. His shot in unreal. Put him on the #1 PP a few trys where hudler usually plays and watch him score.

I actually like Sven more than Sean
I just like pure snipers more than two way forwards.

We need to calm our expectations guys, throwing Monahan and Baertschi in the same sentence with Toews/Kane (2 cups in 4 years) is pretty high praise.
Lets see an entire season of consistent growth before we start hyping them, right now its exciting.

Did you see that pass tonight? It completely met the definition of snipe, it just happened to land straight on Monahan's stick for a goal instead of the net directly. The fact that he can see such a small sliver of open ice and get the puck through for a pass instead of just firing at the net is fantastic for a player his age

Thanks for the obligatory wet blanket post, but both people who mentioned Toews and Kane did so with a "we can only hope" attitude.

Yet another reason to not send Monahan down. They have some legitimate chemistry, and Monahan appears to be helping Sven's development too.

Yeah, they definitely seem to have a little magic together. You can tell that they look for each other at every opportunity. Before, Sven used to try to force every play on his own...although usually because he was playing with some 3rd/4th line schlub.

Monahan and Sven remind me of Tanguay and Iggy when they were good. Just a lot of fun to watch.

I've been a massive supporter of Sven since we drafted him. He has been incredible the last few games and I'm not the least bit surprised. He's got a ton of talent and a very high ceiling. I think we've just seen shades of how good a player he will become if the continues his commitment to getting there.

All the talk has been about Monahan's 9 games, but I was fully expecting that Baertschi would get sent down when Cammalleri comes back.
Just as Sean is earning his permanent ticket, Sven is earning his too.
