RED Bull has agreed to pay over $14.8 million after being sued for falsely vowing to provide consumers with superpowers.
The plaintiffs wrote in their lawsuit that the energy drink was misleading customers with the slogan “Red Bull gives you wings,” but not because they didn’t turn into Angel from X-Men after a few sips.
It’s the enhanced performance that the representing plaintiff specifically names as a lie, declaring that he hasn’t become a better athlete, and he’s been drinking Red Bull regularly since 2002, the Consumerist reports.
If the settlement is approved, anyone who bought at least one can of Red Bull in the past 10 years would be reimbursed.
The plaintiffs are set to receive $11.40 in reimbursement or two free Red Bull products.
How is this administered? Do you just need a receipt from the past 10 years? I never understand these lawsuits that get each person $10 or so (I think there was a CD one back in the day where each person who ever bought a CD got $15 back?)

There was that CD case years back when it was proven the big labels were operating as an illegal oligopoly to artificially increase prices. Everyone who had bought a CD between certain years were awarded a 15 buck refund or purchase or something. I forget exactly how one collected though. The teal benefit was CD prices dropped shortly after. For those still buying them anywat.
Read a recent report that said using an energy drink for (prior or during) physical activity is especially dangerous to the cardiovascular system. I used to slam several of those things at after hours parties and go all night. Guess I dodged a bullet. You drink multiples of those and your better off just doing meth really.
Try dropping a couple Sudafed with a can of Red Bull. I used to do that at hockey tournaments, and thought my heart was going to beat out of my chest. Damn I was stupid back then.
While this lawsuit is frivolous, do yourself a favor and check out how tort reform in the states has made it really difficult for people to sue for legitimate causes, this starts with the famous McDonalds hot coffee case and you will be quite shocked at the truth behind not only that case but how Big business and bought politicians did terrible things to protect business and take power away from individuals. Very depressing.

Jesus man....
When I was a youth soccer coach I had a concrete policy that my players were absolutely not allowed to slam energy drinks right before games. It was in writing and they and their parents had to sign it before the season even started.
I'm telling you man, in the future people are going to realize the damage that crap does to you...
