Might be a way for TB to get out of that contract without buying him out?

You were 15 minutes faster than my Score App was.
Obviously this isn't good news for anyone, but I would imagine money, lawyers, and some form of public apology will have this swept under a rug for Malone eventually.

I have no use for drunk drivers in society.

This guy has made millions and can't be bothered to hire a taxi or limo?
If he wants to drink and do blow go ahead, but don't endanger other peoples lives by being behind the wheel.

I doubt it unless there is a clause in his contract saying so. This could be the final straw for him and TB will buy him out.

So disappointing. Glad to hear no one was hurt, but I struggle to be empathetic towards drunk drivers and drug users.
Hopefully he gets the help he needs before he hurts someone.

There is in any players contract. At least there is this
The Player further agrees, (...)
(e) to conduct himself on and off the rink according to the highest standards of honesty, morality, fair play and sportsmanship, and to refrain from conduct detrimental to the best interest of the Club, the League or professional hockey generally.
Might be able to use that, worth a try.

I guess. He is not the first nor will he be the last player caught under the influence driving. Have any other players had their contract terminated because of it?

This story is literally halfway around the world from us. It's not good, but a DUI and Coke possession in Florida of all places... I know I should care. Mustering the energy... Impossible.

Not to defend his actions, but you're all harping on about drinking and driving. The release doesn't say that. "Driving under the influence"... of what? It doesn't say he was drinking and "driving under the influence" has been expanded in many jurisdictions to include not only alcohol, but drugs as well.
Either way, stupid move.

Anyone who drives under the influence should be shunned from society. We have lost way too many decent and upstanding citizens because of DUIs. I don't hold back my feelings online or on the streets. I think driving under the influence is one of, but not 'the', worst offences a human can make. I have no respect for anyone that does that.
Grah!! That makes me very angry. Idiot.

Ticket to ride, white line highway
Tell all your friends, they can go my way
Pay your toll, sell your soul
Pound for pound costs more than gold
The longer you stay, the more you pay
My white lines go a long way
Either up your nose or through your vein
With nothin to gain except killin’ your brain
