Expected.. who's the ex coach on TSN? I'm guessing he's gonna be behind the Flyers bench soon.

Frank Seravalli ‏@DNFlyers 10m Flyers have fired Peter Laviolette, per a source. Replacing him with Craig Berube. Press conference at 11am.

Fired the wrong guy, should be firing Holmgren.

I was going to say 'whats Lindy Ruff doing?' but looks like its Berube.

Edit...did not realize he was the coach in Dallas

If firing your coach 3 games into the season doesn't make your franchise a laughingstock, I'm pretty sure hiring Craig Berube as the replacement does.

Holmgren is likely the worst GM in NHL history.

You are basing this on what?

Hawks fired Denis Savard after four games.
Kane was bawling during interviews.

Turned out well for them.

Well, let's see...

Firstly, Craig Berube has 0 games head coaching experience in the NHL, and only 1 season in the AHL, which was 5 years ago. When your franchise is sinking so badly that you fire your coach 3 games into the season, I'd think you'd be looking for someone with a proven track record. This isn't a rebuild, it's a franchise spending right to the cap that has high expectations on it. With what's at stake, I think it's fair to say most franchises would hire an experienced head coach.

Secondly, Berube has been an assistant there for the past 5 seasons. Is hiring someone who preached Laviolette's system the right choice when it's apparent that system isn't working? In this instance, it really seems like you need a fresh voice from outside the organization.

Have I justified my position sufficiently for you?

Why didn't they fire him in the offseason? It's obvious that they were looking for any excuse to fire him. That organization is starting to make the Islanders look pretty normal.

Holmgren must be tight with ownership or have somesort of blackmail material to have not been fired by now... He has made some god awful mistakes as GM of the Flyers.
