If it's only $100, pest control sounds like the best option.

Someone link to that message board thread with the wasps on the swing set. You should definitely do that to the garage, you would be an internet hero.

This is what I did. Do you know someone who rides a motorcycle and has full gear?
I put on all my motorcycle gear, including helmet with visor, gloves, thick jacket and pants, plus leather boots. I was all geared up and even though the little buggers tried to get me, they had no skin they could find. I'm severely allergic to stings, by the way. I sprayed the nest very liberally and that got rid of the little guys. The neighbours must have thought I was crazy, but I didn't care. No more wasps.

pest control is more than a 100 dollars and close to about 300 dollars but a good idea is to leave a 2 l pop bottle with the top 4 inches cut off and put in backwards if u know what i mean.
Ill try posting a pic so you get the idea but you put a lil pop in their and they go in but are trapped and cant get out. I catch atleast 100 a week in mine.
edit: honey works better but a lil more expensive.

I actually just talked to Orkin Pest Control and they said $110 plus GST. I have no idea how big the nest is as it is on the outside of my garage. I have to get rid of it right away, my parents come home on Saturday and I want it gone by then. Fire is not an option, my parents' have a crap hose and I'm not big into those wasp sprays. I'll just get pest control to kill it and be done with it.

Get a fake wasp nest from Canadian tire. Strap it up near their nest. If the nest isn't too large, or is smaller than the fake nest, they'll leave. And if you're really cheap, get a paper bag, stuff it, hang it near the area and that'll work too. They'll feel threatened and will leave because they can't tell it's fake. I did that last summer and I have no more wasps. This year I went and bought a fake nest. I think they're like 2 for 10 bucks.

$110 is a great deal. Take it and run.

I'd go the Orkin Pest Control route.

Actually all you need is a small blown up brown paper bag with a string tied around the neck to hang it somewhere
Heritage Park has these hanging all over the place and I guess they work.

I had a next in in the eaves of my garage once. I waited until after dark when they're all in the hive, then sprayed a bunch of that foamy wasp killer stuff into the hole they were going into. It worked well.

Yeah, that's what I did. But I stuffed it with a plastic bag just to make sure it didn't deflate during a storm or something.

I was under the impression that only works as a preventative measure. i.e. wasps won't build a nest in a territory where another nest is established.
If they're already establised though I didn't know it worked as a scare tactic in getting rid of them.

Use a foam, like Raid Max Wasp & Hornet Foam Bug Killer.
Don't waste your time with paper traps and pop bottles.

I've got a nest dug under my concrete deck.. yellowjackets I guess.
Got some foam stuff, just have to use it.
My son got stung once already, sticking his finger in the hole after repeatedly being told what would happen. Bright kid, but considering consequences isn't a strength of his.

This is awesome. You're the exact type of father I'd be.
"Dad, there's a wasp nest under the deck!!"
"Gotcha, junior. I'll get some killer stuff tomorrow. Till then, stay away from it"
"Ok, dad"
---------
"Bwaaaaaaa!! Daddy, I got stung"
"I told you to stay away. Dumass"
