Default GAME 14 : Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs CALGARY STAMPEDERS

Winnipeg Blue Bombers(2-11) is visiting McMahon Stadium on Saturday, October 5th game starts at 4:30PM MDT. Calgary Stampeders(10-3) better not take the Bombers lightly. The game will be televised at TSN in Canada and ESPN3 will be showing it in the US.

OFFENSE

Canadian Player of the Week R Jabari Arthur had a great game last week against Hamilton Tiger Cats earning him the CPoW award. He caught 4 passes for 103 yards and 2 TDs. Last time Stamps played Winnnipeg, Arthur only caught 2 passes for 12 yards.

RB Jon Cornish is trying to take over Kory Sheet of Saskatchewan in the CFL rushing lead this season, rushed 15 times and gained 114 yards. The last time they played the Bombers Cornish ran over Bombers defense rushing 22 times for 175 yards avergaing close to 8 yards per run.

QB Kevin Glenn did not play against the Bombers the last time Stamps played them. Last week, he was good enough for the Stamps to win the game against Hamilton.

Calgary's offense is 1st in the league for Points per Game and rushing yards. The O-Line gave up the least QB sack in the CFL. They are also 2nd in TD scored with 40 while they are in the middle (5th) in passing yards in the CFL.
They will face Winnipeg's defense that is 1st in the CFL in QB sack department but pretty much last in every Defensive categories : 8th in Points allowed, 7th in TD allowed, 7th in passing yards allowed and 4th in rushing yards allowed.

WR Joe West will be back in the lineup after sitting out 9 games due to shoulder injury. WR Chris Bauman still have to sit another game while there is still no word on WR Johnnie Forzani return. RB Jonathan Williams was released by the Stamps.

DEFENSE

Last week was probably the best I've seen the secondary played this season. They intercepted 5 times (season-high) and chipped in 6 pass knockdowns. 3 out of those turnovers Stampeders offense scored TDs.

DB Jamar Wall lead the team with 6 tackles and 2 INTs while DB Derrius Brooks had 3 tackles, 1 INT and 1 pass knockdown. Unfortunately on tomorrow they will be missing DB or should I say LB Keon Raymond due to injury.

The last time these two teams played, Calgary D hold the Bombers' offense with less than 300 yards of offense (194 passing yards) and also collected 3 QB sacks and forced 3 turnovers.

Calgary D is 2nd best in points per game allowed with 24.0 per game, 2nd best in QB sacks and 2nd in takeaway. Unfortunately they are in the middle of the pack in TDs allowed(6th best) and 4th in passing yards allowed and 5th in rushing yards allowed.

The good thing though is Winnipeg's offense are pretty much last in every offensive categories. 8th in points scored, 8th in passing yards, 8th in rushing, 7th in TDs scored and 7th in QB sacks allowed. Brutal..no wonder they are in last place.

SPECIAL TEAM :

As the season goes farther, the special team is improving. Their coverage been playing much better later and their blocking are much better and they didn't get a lot of blocking or illegal block penalties lately. Larry Taylor been running well but still need to break free.

GO STAMPS GO!!!

This actually turns out to be a HUGE game in the overall picture after Sask. beat the Lions last night.

Win this one and they have an absolute stranglehold on 1st place which will allow some guys to get healthy coming down the stretch. With BC coming to town next week and a chance to clinch it up basically, I believe Huf will have these guys focussed and wont take his foot off the gas at any point.

Will be awesome to finally see both Mo Price and Joe West lining up on the outside at the same time. I have a feeling they can be almost unstoppable if they get on the same page.

95 yards actually, after last night.

He should be able to plow through that tonight though.

I am glad Derrius Brooks was there to prevent the TD run by Ford. Stamps prevented a TD scoring for Winnipeg and only gave up a field goal.

After the 1st quarter Cornish rushed for TD again with great blocking from Jones and Gott. 17 more yards behind on Sheets.

Is Suitor f-ing blind? Sears hit Joe West helmet first not his shoulder that's why he got penalized.

The CFL award is MOP, there is a difference... That said, it's got to be between Cornish and Sheets

I have to say YES. I just hope the people that pick the winners are not thinking of him as a Canadian Player of the Year only. I don't know any other players in the CFL that are having good season other than Kory Sheets.

I have to say the leading candidates for Winnipeg head coaching will be Marcel and Double D. I just hope Double D decides to stay in Calgary.

I would say that WPG needs to get their front office in order before worrying about who the next HC is. As in any orginization, it all starts at the top and they have been a mess there for years.

I would love to see a rule change where if the ball is more than ~6 inches short of the first down then there is no measurement because you can easily look at the sideline and see that it is short. It slows down the game too much when there are measurements when the ball is a yard short.

Awful throw
