I remember being in the Dome last year when Iggy was "scratched" and looking at Kobasew and Kipper chatting with each other during warm-ups about the trade... The 2004 connection is so strong. I hope the Flames build a team that is tight-knit like that one was.

I really thought he was poised to take the next step after 06-07. He had two more similar seasons with the Bruins, then started falling off the map.

Good luck Chuck!

Is it me or are there way more PTO's this year than usual? And seemingly with better players than usual (although Im not sure I'd consider Kobasew that category). I recall these being mostly given to AHL quality players.

I've noticed that too.

Must be the lower cap and the amount of teams that have little cap space left.

I met a friend of his this pat July and he told me that Kobasew should sign with the Penguins. Now I wonder if he was trying to tell me something.

Surprised the Canucks didnt give him a contract.

I'm sure they'd love to add to their pre-season championship banners.

I think that is when injuries really started to catch up to him, it's impossible to develop properly when you can't stay in the lineup and his game was just coming around when the injuries started.

06/07 - Concussion (8 games), Fractured Elbow (18 Games), Concussion (last 7 games of the season)
07/08 - Back (1 game), Groin (2 games), Fractured Tibia (last 6 regular season games and all 7 playoff games)
08/09 - Ankle (12 games), Upper Body (2 games)
09/10 - Upper Body (4 games), Knee (23 games), Knee (5 games)
10/11 - Groin (14 games), Illness (2 games), Leg (1 game)
11/12 - Leg (1 game), Head (8 games), Back (12 games)
12/13 - Illness (1 game), Torso (8 games)

142 games missed due to injury/illness in 7 years!

Always liked Chuck. At least he was a first round pick who played 10 seasons.

Basically I'm happy he wasn't a fata.

Good luck Chuck!

Interesting enough the only remaining player on either roster from the 04 finals with Kippers retirement is Martin St. Louis for Tampa.

I still remember the first game between the two teams after that series, I think it was like 7-6 or something.. it was high scoring. The rosters were different but the core was still the same on both sides and emotions were heavy. Great game to watch as a fan.

See? When we said Kobasew would be Iginla's replacement one day, we were right. We just didn't specify that it would be in Pittsburgh.

Kobasew popped 2 goals Sunday night. Not too bad. Looks like he wants to play still.

Suckers.... still falling for the King of the Pre-Season.

How soon you guys forget Kobasew played a huge part in us NOT winning the cup in 2004
