Eakins is considered a pretty smart coach so maybe he is on to something by trying to prop up some of the young guys with more responsibility but it looks kind of silly from the outside.

It was just mentioned in the 'Ference as Captain' thread by MissTeeks.
I believe its worth its own thread.
Also, I'm sure Ales Hemsky ($5.0M), David Perron ($3.8M), Nick Schultz ($3.5M), Ladislav Smid ($3.5M), Boyd Gordon ($3.0M), Jeff Petry ($1.75M), Anton Belov ($1.75M and who?), Denis Grebeshkov ($1.5M) and Ben Eager ($1.1M)....
Are all thoroughly disappointed.
Clearly the Edmonton Oilers have SO MUCH leadership that they dont need to look outside of the organization for a recent acquisition to bring some.

Didn't the flames have 3 home assistants and 3 away assistants last year??
I don't think this is a bad idea. I think it is more telling that Ference is the captain than naming all these guys.
Strange leadership issues up there that is for sure.
