I like the huge save. If hawks score on 5-3 then I guarantee they score again 5-4. Huge stop.

my big take away was his stature standing tall and looking over everyone then getting into the save mode when needed.

Allowed him to read the play

Karlsson used to drop and guess but got hammered when NHL shooters figured him out.

dont disagree with a thing you wrote.
For the first time in years the Flames seem to have a "system" as opposed to, get it to Iginla.
It is VERY refreshing to see this play out and I think that's why we see "calm" for the most part when other teams are attacking. Still not sure we will see this throughout the year, but it sure is exciting to watch this team play. LOVE what Hartley is doing here along with the much maligned Feaster et al.

Is that the most saves by a goalie in his first NHL game? 42 is a lot of saves.

My take on the game is that your Flames played hard for the kid...and deserved the 2 points (as revenge, at least, for Emery stealing 2 when you outplayed US last season!)...26 shot blocks is impressive, but, allowing over 70 (46 SOG + 26 blocks)shots to be directed toward your net is not a long-term winning strategy.
