Lifeguards wearing mitts and toques at local pools?

Where did the summer go?

Only two 30+C days this summer.

I read somewhere else this was the coldest summer in the Northern Hemisphere since 1992.

That's funny you should mention that.

Just yesterday morning I complained to the building manager of my complex that was getting cold in the evening and maybe they should turn the boilers on again.

Her response was they never turn them on till September 1, and that this was normal for Yellowknife this time of year. She expected an Indian Summer to start soon.

Well, last night I noticed the heat in my apartment came on. Now that the owners of the building are conceding summer is gone ... time to bring out the longjohns!

By the title, I thought it was in reference to school starting back up.

I actually haven't minded the cooler temperatures this year

Despite those things I can tell you it was hot here in Japan - 40 days of consecutive plus 30 for non-mountainous parts of Japan south of Tokyo and still more to come.

Hard to even imagine the Calgary summer any more - having a boo at the highs every day it looks like half the time Calgary's high isn't even the low here. Whatever happened to the promise of Global warming?

Call me insane, but I thought it was a nice summer. It was cooler and that's good because I hate heat. It was hot for Stampede week, what more do people want?

yup a lousy Summer across Canada for sure...although we got more than 2 +30 days it is usually quite a bit warmer here in suthn Ontario....my wifes parents in Portugal have also been suggesting that its been much cooler in their neck of the woods as well.

Maybe this means a WARM winter? B) One can only hope!

You honestly think that will happen?

Actually, I agree with '74 - it's been very nice. Pretty wet in the evenings, more wet than usual, but nice none the less

It must be that damn global warming.

I was in the Okanagan for a week in July and it was hot hot hot and dry. And then last week I was on Vancouver Island and it was fairly warm with no rain and that is unheard of there. I guess what I'm saying is that I enjoyed some pretty nice warm weather but I had to go to BC to get it.

I don't mind, with the cool weather we got a TON of rain this summer which is really needed.

To be fair, I was reading an article on the weather network website the other day and they are predicting a warmer than usual winter.

Thinking back...we didn't really have too much of a winter last year. I only remember like one week of really painfully cold days...and spring seemed like it came a whole lot earlier.

I liked the weather this summer for the most part. But the farmer's son in me says we need a few weeks of dry, warm weather between now and the end of September.

Last summer was much more dry and hotter than normal. This one was wetter and cooler (albeit not THAT bad). If you take the average, it's probably close to normal (the average over the past few decades).

Two winters ago, it was warm. Last winter was cold. Again, the average was probably close to "normal".

One year doesn't mean much. A few years together with a similar trend.. that's when people should sit up and take notice.

You have a bad memory, this winter deffinately was painfully cold. I'd never pulled out the plug for my block heater until this winter.

North of Calgary, North of Edmonton, up in Fort McMurray, it has been one of the hottest summers I can remember.

Agreed. It was brutally cold some days last winter especially when my car was in the shop for over a month waiting for parts after an accident. It took me a week to get my loaner car so I rode the bus during an extra cold snap...
