Training Camp Cuts
Thought we could use a thread to predict and discuss the trimming of the roster. I think I read somewhere that the 1st round of cuts would happen after the Ottawa game. I'm thinking:
Brossoit
Bancks
McKelvie
Martin
Eddy
Gordon
Kanzig
Lamb
Billins
Elson
Culkin
Olson

Actually, the first round of cuts are coming after tomorrow's game. So Wednesday morning we'll probably hear who has been cut.
That's a solid list of who will probably get cut.

So pretty much everyone who hasn't played? Good guesses.
But why don't we put this on hold until after we play another 2 games tomorrow? I'm looking forward to seeing Granlund, Ferland and Ramage at the dome. Hopefully the other kids have better luck vs. the isles. Fingers crossed for an improved performance from Ramo, especially.

Didn't bingo used to do a training camp cut spreadsheet where we would pick the cuts?

I know all the focus is on Monahan and Poirier but how about Sieloff? I'm excited about the grit and scrappiness he might add to our team.
How far can he make it this year?

^ I think Sieloff may end up in the AHL this year... be a recall

Pretty sure Sieloff will be going back to junior and to play at the World Juniors. I don't think he's even AHL eligible.

He is due to being drafted out of the USHL, and could also play in the WJC's despite playing pro (loaned).

I'd be shocked if Monahan is going anywhere. That didn't stop the 67's from announcing him as their Captain today.

He had 2G in 3 games at the Young Stars tournament. He scored 2G, 2A in the training camp scrimmage I was at a week ago. I think he now has 2G, 1A in 3 preseason games?
Kid is pretty consistent.

Monahan will get some regular season games for sure. It will be interesting to see how he plays against real NHL rosters.

Can't see them sending him down if he keeps up this pace... besides without him in the lineup it would almost feel like a setback in the rebuilding process. I almost feel as if we still have too many vets with the way a lot of the rookies are playing right now.

He was the captain last year... so I'm sure they are just keeping the spot open in case he ends up back there. No sense naming a new captain and then having an awkward situation if Monahan returns.

By all accounts this week Monahan is a shoe in for the main roster. Still a couple of weeks to go but he's improving not regressing.

My guesses (18)
Byron
Brossoit
Kulak
Gordon
Lamb
Mckelvie
Elson
Martin
Street
Billins
Bancks
Begin
Kanzig
Olson
Eddy
Sieloff
Roy
Klimchuk
Bolded = injured
That would leave 37 players at camp for the final week and a half of training camp

Sieloff and Roy cannot be cut until they are healthy since they were injured while with the Flames.
You can also add Breen to your list of injured players.

Sure would be a nice story to have a surprise player make the team. Even just one.
