***If this should be in the fantasy sub forum I apologize and please move. I put this in this forum as I'm looking more for a discussion of point totals prediction for all players which is really a hockey discussion more than a strategy discussion.***




Hi all,

It's time for an annual tradition that many groups of friends partake in: Hockey pools. Ours is a keeper league, based strictly on 14 skaters point totals plus two goalies with wins as 2 points and shutouts an additional 3. Every teams bottom 2 picks are not counted to help with injury risk. There are 8 guys and 16 rounds for 128 players in total picked. It seems like every year the person who wins had a solid 4th through 8th round, so the upper mid picks are pretty important. The

Therefore, simple questions:
-Who will end up in the top ten/twenty in scoring at the end of the season?
-Who can I pick up in a lower round that will exceed the points expected of them?
-Which goalies will get me the most wins and shutouts?

Stamkos (105), P Kane (95) and Spezza (90) will be in the top 10.


Some random predictions for potential later picks: Jordan Staal (65), Huberdeau (55), Brassard (55), Brad Richards (70), Briere (45), Grigorenko (40) - a little risky, but if it's a really deep draft, I'd take a flyer on him.


Rinne and Niemi will have a lot of SO's this year.

Goalies are important with your categories so get one of Lundqvist, Rask, Quick or Rinne, early if possible.
