[Archived] NHL 14 PS3 GM Connected League

Hey guys,

I'm looking to start a GMC League for PS3 similar to the one we ran last year. If you are interested please post to this thread. If you have any suggestions for the upcoming season please let me know.

League Details:

• There will be a team draft to select teams
• 30 gms
• You must be a member of CalgaryPuck

Registration:

• League registration is currently open
• First 30 GMs will be accepted
• To sign up add your PSN ID and Text+ ID (if available)
• There will be a wait list

Gameplay Settings:

• Skill Level - All-Star
• Play Style - Normal
• Period Length - 7 Minutes
• Overtime (continuous with loser point)

Schedule:

• Regular season will be based on a weekly schedule, which advances every 3 days in real life.
• Year 1 schedule is based on the official schedule of the NHL for the 2013/14 season.
• It is not mandatory to play in a game. If you're unable to participate in a human-human matchup with your opponent, your opponent will play against your CPU team.
• Games that are not completed when the week advances will be simulated.
• By default, your team has to be set to CPU play.
• GMs may play against their opponents CPU if they have tried to make contact (via calgarypuck) with the opposing GM and it is after 7 PM MST the day before the advance

Playoffs:

• Playoff series number of games will be best of 5
• Overtime games in the playoffs will be continuous overtime

Transactions:

• All transactions (trades, signings, waivers, etc.) are pending on commissioners approval.
• Transactions will be reviewed every advance.

Communication:

• Methods of communication: Text+, CalgaryPuck and PSN chatroom
• Text+ will be used for the majority of communication (it is not mandatory but has it's advantages)

how fast will advances be? also what happens with cpu trades?

I'm thinking advances will be 1 week per 3 day advance. I'd consider 2 weeks every 5 days as well.

As for CPU trades I'm hoping we'll have 30 gms like we did our first season last year. Otherwise, I don't think they will be allowed.

Nice! A hint for anyone signing up for Text+. Set a username (maybe the same as your PSN ID or your CP username) and then you can change your name to match the team you get.

Example:

• username = jedaco
• first name = Dallas
• last name = Stars

I'll give it another shot this. I'm hoping they have done some serious work to make it more user friendly. If the wait times between screens is longer than 1 minute, I'll probably back out.

I've heard that the load times are one of the things they have fixed. Hopefully they are much faster.

I agree we shouldn't start our season too early and allow time to get familiar with the game but if I'm reading the above rules properly, which I tend not to do....read things correctly, lol. Our GM Connected league would begin October 1st following the NHL schedule which I believe is plenty of time, right?

Negative. It will follow the same schedule as the NHL's upcoming season, but we will play a week's worth of games in 3 days rather than 7 days like in real life. This allows us to get 2-3 seasons of GM connected in before the next NHL game comes out. Also, it doesn't say when our league will start.

I'd like to have the teams selected before the game launches on the 10th of September so we can create the league and everyone can see their rosters. This will give everyone time to familiarize themselves with their rosters and make trades before the games begin.

I don't think we'd be in a rush to start the actual games. I think we should plan to start playing games the last week of September.

Let me know your thoughts.
