Default Ruan Thai?

They were located on 11th Ave SW, just a block East of 14th St. for years. One of my favorite Thai places and great for pickup. Doors closed a few months back.

Does anyone know if they moved to another location? Reopening somewhere else at a later date?

Thanks

Don't know what happened to them, but it's sad they are no longer around. We thought they must have been a front for something because they were never busy yet still had great Pad Thai.

Closed in April the owners just wanted to take some time off and travel. They said they may reopen at some point in the future and will keep the same name if they do.

Used to love Ruan Thai but their quality dropped and prices were crazy. Not surprised they have closed but still a pity as their food was really good at times.

For sure Ruan Thai was crazy overpriced for Thai food given there were other places that served as good for much less. I'm surprised they can take a vacation like that for awhile, it was always quiet in there the times I went.

Maybe Thais really like to take it easy. White Elephant, another great Thai restaurant is closing at lunches now because "they are doing too much business at lunch and they want to relax a bit more".

What are some other good thai takeout places with good food and cheaper prices? FlameOn?

I've been looking for good thai since Ruan Thai closed.

Always been a fan of White Elephant and Delicious Thai for cheaper and great Thai... Chili club Thai is not bad either but it's a bit more expensive than the first two.

White Elephant is funny since it's located in the corner inside an older hotel, you always have to walk past a bunch of Indian cleaning staff hanging out in the lounge to get to the restaurant when they were still open for lunch. Don't count much on the decor or service though... place is pretty much a hole in the wall, family run and is super understaffed

Massamun Beef with 3 chilis, Tom Yum soup and steamed rice for $11 from White Elephant
Spoiler!

EDIT: Sorry for big picture, posted from my phone and can't resize atm.

Never been to White Elephant but have heard nothing but good things.

If your in the Kensington area you can't beat Deicious Thai. We eat there all the time.

I can also say that I believe this story as I found the Thai people to be some of the best I have ever met. Very hard working but very aware of life balance. Had an awesome time there for 2 months about 10 years ago. If anyone gets a chance to go to Thailand do it, you won't regret it.

So much this. I train Muay Thai and spent 6 months over there back in 08. Head over every year for a couple of weeks. Amazing place, great people and awesome food.
