Great start for the Royals, they loaded the bases and got a 2 run double from Canadian kid Matt Stairs. Go Royals!

Is it still 5-3? Jays blowing way to many chances to score easy runs in this game. Runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs, and they blow it twice against a bad team. Jays are on the cusp, but theres always 2-3 times a game where they screw up in critical situations and it bites them in the ass thats why they're able to get to .500 or a game up, and than they fall back.

BTW Mike, you're a NERD!!

Man I'm glad I don't look like you.

Yeah Syl I maybe a nerd but I believe you were the CPHL SUPERNERD!

5-3 Royals final. These are the games that kill the Jays playoff chances.

No, that was SuperFraggle. I mean English major....thats all we need to know.

Yeah, 3 game winning streak coming in, and than lose to K.C. 4-4 since the break against really bad teams....I know the Jays fans hate this, but it's really time to focus on next year and seeing what you can do to get the extra pieces required to run for it next year.

The Jays never had any playoff chances. .500 wont win the wild card.

I don't see them even making wildcard until at least next season.

Nope. I would hope they can beat the Royals.

Well strange as it sounds the Jays best hope would be to win their own division. They've played well within the AL East and have a lot of head to head games left with the Yankees. No one in the AL East is really stepping up and seizing the division right now. But if the Jays wanted to do anything they need to start reeling off like 7 wins in a row or something like that. Right now they're too inconsistant do even win 4 straight. Case in point, they play a very good series against a hot A's team. They go to Texas and lose 3 games despite scoring 24 runs. They come home and lose 3-4 to Tampa. Now a team that was going to seriously contend would have won 2 of 3 in Texas, than 3 of 4 vs. Tampa. That would give them a record of 53-44 right now, and have them right in it for the AL East. The Jays are a much improved squad from last year, and the offence has been very solid this month with most guys hitting well especially Cat, Wells, Zaun, and Hudson of late. If you had a healthy Halladay with Lilly throwing like he has in the past 5 weeks along with Chacin, and could rely on Towers and Bush to pitch .500 than they'd be right there. But as it stands they're a .500 team that just can't push themselves to make the next step. But if they can get one more starter, a dominating closer, and a power hitting bat to play at first base I think they'll be able to field a very good club for next season.

Ouch. Another series loss against a very weak team. Royals win 6-5 today. Lilly was cruising along and then just fell apart.

Anybody have any more details about what happened to Vernon Wells in the game? I was listening on the radio while doing some errands and they mentioned he fouled a ball off of his shin and went for some precautionary X-Rays. Doesn't sound good at all.
