Icon59 Linus Omark to the Sabres for a conditional 6th

@EdmontonOilers
#Oilers have traded winger Linus Omark to the @BuffaloSabres in exchange for a conditional 6th round selection in the 2014 #NHLDraft.

This trade will be awesome if him and Linus Ullmark play for the team at the same time at some point.

I hope he has MAD success in Buffcity.

Didn't realize how old he was. Guy is 1.5 months away from 27 years old.

What the hell was all the hype about?

Mactavish when hired :
Quote:
"I'm an impatient guy and I bring that impatience to this situation," he said. "I think we're at the stage in terms of the cycle of our hockey club right now that we have to do some bold things.
"We have to expose ourself to some semblance of risk to try and move the team forward in a rapid fashion."
since then he's brought in:
larssen/2016 7th round pick for horcoff
perron for paajarvi/2nd round pick
4th round pick for mike brown
horak/broissot for smid/roy
6th round pick for omark

oilers management is just awesome. Please never change!

That 6th round pick probably has a better chance of being an everyday NHL player than Omark does.

Besides their players' values being in the toilet, it takes two teams to make bold moves.

Any impact player that the Oilers would have had to consider overpaying in so far as a trade return since MacTavish was hired, likely has an NTC. Excellent chance that those players are not willing to waive that to come to the Oilers thanks to the reputation Lowe's given it, nevermind their position within the standings.

Oilers are just getting rid of contracts...they were at 49 or 50 at the beginning of the season

Weak-ass excuses, and not what's happening.

If the Oilers really wanted to make a bold move, they have plenty of assets to trade and the vast majority of players in the NHL do not have NMCs.

The simple fact of the matter is that there have been numerous comments and rumours surface from discussions with other teams (if they're discussing, then trades are possible) but the repeated refrain is that the Oilers vastly overvalue their assets.

It isn't that players have NMCs. It isn't that the Oilers - and other teams - don't want to make moves. It's that Oilers management have swallowed more of their own hype than even the media have. They refuse to pay the necessary price to get that bold move done.
