Possible New Police Cruisers?
Quote:
Calgary police unveiled a Dodge Charger prototype with black and white colours Thursday as the next potential vehicle to stock its future fleet.
The Ford Crown Victoria cars traditionally used by police are not being produced any longer and so Calgary police are trying out the Charger, a Ford Taurus and possibly a GM model to see which vehicle best suits the force's needs.
The department says the switch will improve officer and public safety as well as save money.
Based on pricing for the Chargers, and the reduced cost of the proposed decaling, the move could save the Calgary Police Service more than $1 million.

Only problem is if you get arrested they have to put you in the trunk.
Edit: I was joking, should have used green text I guess.

I've always wondered, does the CPS' entire fleet, vans and trucks aside, need to be rapid response vehicles? Without a doubt, we could save a fair bit on capital and operational expenditures if a portion of the fleet were compact vehicles.

We have had the chargers in the CPS fleet pretty well since they came out, just limited in number, I must say they are pretty nice, the Back seats are now moulded plastic with a drain at the bottom for when you need to hose out undesired leftovers......

About time they brought back the black and whites I am getting pretty sick of breaking for security guards, train cops, transport cops. alarm companies and an energy company.

Anything that make's an emergency vehicle easier to see/distinguish is alright by me. Like how they made the fire engines red again.
