Game Packs - Update - Selection forms released!
For the last 3 seasons I had two pairs of season tickets. Last season the Flames offered 4-game game packs to season ticket holders. I decided to purchase a 4 seat game pack in the greens. They were great seats in Section 208 Row 20. In fact, I enjoyed the seats so much that I decided to move my season tickets to Section 208 for this season. Plus, it was great to be able to bring another couple or the boys to the game and all sit together.
This season I decided to renew the game pack, which is now 9 games, and not renew one of my pairs of season tickets.
Anyways, with this being the first time I get to actually pick which game pack I prefer, I was curious what current or previous game pack holders experience have been?
- are you able to choose your game pack preference online through your Flames ticket account?
- do you usually get your first or second choice?
- how far before the season startrs does the selection process usually start?
- have you been happy with your seat allocation? Do you find they put you in similar seats year to year?
Thanks,
Sec218

I had game packs for 3 seasons so hopefully I will be able to provide a bit of info.
1. In previous years they have emailed out a selection sheet with with games listed where you enter your preference from 1-5. You fill it out and either mail, fax or email it back to them.
2. I always got my first choice but it will all depend on the gamess you pick. There is usually one pack without a preseason game but with less popluar teams. I always picked that one first because preseason to me is a waste and I don't care about watching Vancouver or Edmonton.
3. The selection process should start in the next couple weeks. It is usually not long after they send out season ticket offers to the Hot House members. You usually don't find out your seat assingments and games until about a week before preseason starts.
4. The first 2 seasons I was in section 203 in row 24 then 23 and the last season I had them I was in sect 217 row 23 (it may have been 22) so not the best seats in the house by any means but it is what you expect when the better seats go to STH.
Hope this helps

9 games and some really good games in each grouping.
Hell I'm surprised to see the Capitals and Penguins.

More quality games now that we play each team at least once at home.

Can I just say how nice it is to not have Minnesota or Columbus in every pack anymore?

Surprisingly every game is in the mix. They used to only have 4 groups and held back the Premium games, which always included Leafs, Canadiens, Penguins etc.

Yep, interest is falling, they needed to step it up to sell product.

Do you pay face value or season ticket holder price for game packs?

Right in between. example for greens the STH cost is $38 a seat while the face value is $58. The game pack cost is $48.

I actually have to give some kudos to the Flames for the changes to these this year. Like most fans, I love the change in the NHL schedule- but I think the Flames even went above and beyond with the gamepacks by ensuring every game was available, and trying to make each gamepack option desirable.
I agree with previous posters that they needed to anticipate less demand this year, but being honest- they don't have a great track record of doing this. I expected them to ride game pack owners into the ground, until we finally said enough was enough.
Good on them for offering a better product at the right time!

The same game packs are now available to the general public through the 'last minute club'.
Didn't you have to be on the 'game pack hot house list' a short time ago?

How does it work for new game pack folks?
I don't see an option to pick your game pack, just the level.

It looks like you just buy the game pack, but aren't guaranteed which one you actually receive (you give them your first choice, second choice, third choice, etc).

That's correct, once you pick your level the Flames will mail you a Game Pack preference selection form.

Do you get a better deal for the packs if you are a hot house member vice last minute club? I mean the promotions says you can save up to 40%, but the whites looks like you save $10 over face value...sure I gues you need to factor in premium games because I am guessing they are priced more.
I tried hot house last year and bought the 24 pack but had an awful hard time making all the games - but I never got the feeling that any other offer (the game pack was at STH, but every other offer the cost of the tickets were at face so not a deal at all - when they offer tickets up and you are a HH member who they are not allotting any season tickets too and you've paid your $200 I think they would offer something up better than face. And if they have all these tickets available why not sell more season tickets?
Anywho
