XFest announced their line up this morning...and its now two days...

That's a great lineup for X-Fest. I can't believe they're pushing DFA 1979 down so far on the list. I have been dying to see them ever since I saw then opening for NIN eight years ago at the Dome, and especially since they re-formed.

And who could possibly hate Weezer!

Right. but two days? That's a fairly weak lineup for two days.

colour me confused but this is happening on the exact same days with the same lineup as Sonic Boom up in Edmonton. Are they maybe just reversing the artists each days?

I'd like to see Weezer and City and Color, and of course DFA1979, but I'm sure they'll be split up, if not I might check it out for a day...Seemed to be better when it was called Virgin Fest, one year pulling in Matt Good, Flaming Lips, The Hip, and Stone Temple Pilots, the next, Pearl Jam

VirginFest and XFest have no relation except XFest filled the void per se.

My issue is no single day tickets, smart marketing but sucks for those of us who only wanna see a band or 2

Weird lineup. Weezer & AWOLNATION played XFest two years ago. Also, that year they struggled with ticket sales (at $80 for a day pass) so they sold a ton on Groupon. I'm curious to see how well they sell this year.

Anyway, have fun listening to the most generic sounds of the 2000s. Nothing like a 40 year old man whining "Imma do the things that I wanna do I ain't got a thing to prove to you" and "I'm a troublemaker, never been a faker doin' things my own way and never giving up" like a petulant teenager.

Weezer and Awolnation were both great the first year.. despite other disasters.

Cold War Kids is a great surprise as well.. that almost justifies going for me on its own.

Which of those other bands are "hipster" bands? Maybe the Weakerthans. That's it.
