Default Global Fest

Hey quick question I haven't been to a global fest night in a few years.

The times listed are from 6:00-11:15PM for Elliston Park, but from what I recall the actual fireworks didn't start until much later in the evening.

Does anybody recall or know what the actual fireworks show would be starting and ending?

Thanks.

I worked there last year, and IIRC the actual fireworks show starts at 10 pm.

I talked to one of the organizers because I want to bring my daughter and they also said around 10pm.

Just thought that I would bump this regarding parking. Last time I had a VIP pass, which meant parking was easy! I'm planning on parking somewhere nearby and walking in tonight...does the Zellers and such down the road still make the most sense?

TIA

It's $5 to park at Zellers (proceeds go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation) and it's a short walk to the park. That's what I did on Tuesday.

Am I going to have a problem in getting there around 8pm or so and finding parking?

(The $5 is not an issue for me, but thanks for the heads-up!)

I think I got there around 8 on Tuesday and there was still plenty of parking. You should be fine.

Ask my bro, I think he's been at least once this year.

edit: this isn't a snarky reply- the OP knows my bro in "real life"

It is about a 10-15 minute walk from the Zellers to Eliston Park. Not a big deal, but dont forget to account for that in your planned arrival time.

There is not anywhere closer to park, unless you get there well before 8pm (maybe even as early as 7???) and park in the lot right at the NW corner of Eliston park. I am not sure when that lot gets full, but its been completely full by 7:45 each time I have walked by.

NOTICE

The Zellers parking lot located on 17 Avenue and 52 Street SE will not be offering parking for tonight's festivities.

Also, the fireworks start at 9:30.

Hope this helps!

Well, it's more like the speeches start around 9:30. 20ish minutes later the fireworks actually start.

Question though, how did you guys find the exit once everything was done? Relatively quick back to car/drive out?

For those of you who have never been and have nothing to do tonight, it's the finale.

I thought it was awesome. The fireworks are really cool and it's something fun and different. We parked a couple of blocks away at about 7pm and there were no issues with that at all. There are a lot of "typical" festival booths to buy things, as well as a bunch of ethnic food vendors. I didn't see any, but there are also live performances put on by various ethnic groups.

The fireworks started around 10 after about 1/2 hour of speeches (which was a bit tedious, but they do have to acknowledge the sponsors, and they weren't horrible).

Anyway, check it out! It's a fun event and depending on who you're with you still have lots of time to go out after or get home early.

Oh, almost forgot. Bring a chair and blanket/sleeping bag. You'll be sitting there for a while and it does get chilly!

And if anyone wants to go for free, I've got two tickets that I can give away in the Westhills area, just buy me a vanilla latte, see my FS thread in the ticket exchange.
