Default QMJHL Prospect Jordan Boyd passes away in camp

Quote:
It is with deep regret that the Acadie-Bathurst Titan announces the death of one of its young prospects, Jordan Boyd. The 16 year-old was skating during an individual training session when hi suffered a discomfort and collapsed on the ice. The Acadie-Bathurst Titan medical team tried to revive him several times. The young player was transported to hospital where his death was confirmed by a doctor.
Sounds like the same kind of thing that happened to Mickey Renaud if I was to hazard a guess.

I am not familiar with A-B's procedures, but typically no unless it's previously come up in a medical that they have an abnormality, murmur or a genetic pre-disposition for any heart conditions. If you are a typical healthy 16 year old with no previous issues or family history of problems, you would not have any further testing. Even EKG's are discretionary and typically decided on a team by team basis. It was only recently they made them mandatory for the majority NHL players.

This happened to a friend of mine playing basketball. Same age, well 17...

It's gutwrenching.
