It's funny, Mullen scored a lot and some very important goals for the Flames but mostly I remember him missing the empty net with a minute to go in game three of the final.

Damn, that game was a heartbreaker at the time. Not sure I remember Mullen mostly for that. I mostly remember him for being an awesome player the Flames traded too early.

Vernon in game 7 of that opening round.... man, that's good stuff. I grew up emulating his playstyle because of moments like those.

I honestly believed we were about to repeat the 86 series after game three.. Heart broken would be a fairly accurate description of my mental state at the time.

Knowing Theo's issues now, I thought his comment "I've always been this high" at the end was ironically funny.

It's fun to see all those iconic moments put into full context.

Really enjoyed watching that. Brings back some great memories.

It's funny because I, like many Flames fans, always had a love/hate thing with Vernon. Over the last few years the hate part of it has gradually slipped away. However, watching that video brought me right back to my 1980's bi-polarism.

Me:

"Way to go, Mikey!"
"God damnit Vernon, stay in your net!"
"You da man Mike!" (it was the 80's )
"Jesus Vernon, don't chase the play!"
"Vezina!!! This man deserves the Vezina"
"Trade him Fletcher. Trade him NOW!"
"Yeah, Stanley Cup baby! What McInnis gets the Conn Smythe? Vernon was robbed!"

Vernon was a lock for 30 wins a year, way before the NHL got rid of ties and forced every game to have a winner. I hate the diluted stats we have in today's game.

Pepper's goal celebration (on the bench) is just awesome at 22:40.
