The terms and $$ coming from the Jets organization is just nutty this summer. I get that they have to overpay to keep guys in winterpeg, but still, wow.
Locking up a 22 year old former first round pick well into his UFA years could certainly pay off if he develops further, but still a crazy commitment.
Is there something in the Manitoba lawbooks that prohibits bridge contracts for young players?

A little long, but the cap hit is good. Good deal for Winnipeg.

Wow Wpg spending that season ticket holder money real fast this summer, agents must be licking there lips to have these sorts of examples when negotiating or at arbitration.

A lot of long term deals in Winnipeg. Hopefully it works out for them or else it could be a long next 7 years without the playoffs.

Well, players like this don't come along that easily. We'll see if this becomes justifiable in the coming years along with the other deals.

He's a good player and it's great to be able to keep your core together. My only concern is that core of players while somewhat young haven't made the playoffs once and seem to be a team that is treading water somewhat. Individually these guys have put up pretty good numbers but what happens if collectively they never hit that next level?

Don't know if I'm celebrating too much if I'm him. Yes, I'd be rich, but I still have to live in Winnipeg. You can only drink so many Slurpees. /obligatory slam on Winnipeg

That would be my concern if I was a Jets fan too.
Great to get your young core locked up long term, but issue is you have a young team that hasn't proven they can win yet (even just make the playoffs) and now you just rewarded them with long term (Career) contracts. Even more concerning since I am not sure any of those guys are "stars" yet.
It's awesome if they progress as you hope because you have your core signed long term for below market levels but if they don't take that next level it is a risky move.
