Default Weird wifi signal showing up on iPad

I'm at home today and there is a strange wifi in my list of possible wi-fi's. on top of my normal wifi connection, there is one called "SETUP" and it has full bars for connectivity. Is there anyway to find out what this is?

I am the only one who does the network stuff in our house, and we live on an acreage so it can't be the neighbours.

Any apps or tools to pinpoint where a signal is coming from? I'm kind of concerned...

Edit: it picks up in my iphone too so it's 2.4ghz

Be careful. Click that network and you might turn into a Flames fan.

Did you just buy a new printer with wifi and it's trying to setup wireless printing?

Is it an open connection? I.e. can you connect to it?

If you do are you on your regular network? If not, what's the gateway IP? Do you get internet access? If so what's the public facing IP address? You can use a whois tool to find out who owns that public IP (to see what ISP it is).

If you turn off all the power to your house, do you still see it?

Or even a digital camera, I think my digital camera can pair up with a smartphone with the right app.

EDIT: Heck, thermostats, light bulbs, etc etc all have wifi nowadays, though I would presume you would know if you'd installed such a device.

Connect to the network and point a browser to the gateway IP.

It could be someone who has set up an adhoc network with their laptop.

Could be accidental or on purpose, for good or nefarious reasons.

Ok lmao! I downloaded insidder onto a laptop and used it track the wifi signal to its strongest. It's my printer :S we've had it for 6 months and this is the first time it's happened. I know it hasnt shown up before because I have another network in my bands jam room that we use for wirelessly running a mixer (mackie dl1608) and wireless lighting. I'm constantly switching networks...
