Painting room with Flames colors
Hello everybody,
So, I moved last year. The sad part of leaving that house was leaving behind my boys' room, which I had painted with Calgary Flames colors. It had a nice accent wall that was all red, and a ledge around the outside walls of the room that was also red, and the inside of the closet was red too.
Well, my boys want the same thing in their new room and I'm on holidays and ready to go. So I head down to Home Depot, because that was where you buy NHL licensed paint colours only to find out that it isn't available anymore. At least, when I look on the websites it isn't available in Canada.
Has anybody painted a room with Calgary Flames red and had success matching the red? None of the swatches at Home Depot matched the red on my hat, but I'm not sure that was the best way to match it, even though that is what the clerk told me was the best route.

The red is pantone 186. If you google it you should get the right colour. Not sure how easy it will be to match though.

I had this done a few years ago at Home Depot, so I would be suprised if it isn't available now. However, if it is gone, you just need the color codes (or whatever those color numbers are), so you could likely call a store that does have it (elsewhere in Canada or the US) and get them.
edit: I will check if I still have the old paint, as the labels have the stuff you need on it, I am sure.

From googling CP user Frank the Tank:
"RED Pantone 186, YELLOW Pantone 142, and Process Black."

I went to Home Depot and the guy told me they don't sell it anymore. However when I do a google search it is available on homedepot.com but not homedepot.ca Glidden has the license with NHL, but Glidden doesn't look to be sold in Canada anymore.

All you have to do is take something with the Flames red on it to a paint store and they will match the color.
Dulux paints (formerly Glidden) can do it, General paint, Cloverdale and pretty much any paint store should do it.

Anybody but Home Depot. I went there because they used to have the exact product. They just told me to match the color swatches to my Flames hat to see which one was the closest.

You probably got a lazy store employee because they have matched a color for me before. Unless they stopped doing it recently but I suspect someone just didn't want to take the time to do it.

in a pinch you could likely go with panatone 183 for the red and 144 for the yellow - and always bet on a paint store selling black

Went to Dulux (down here in Lethbridge )and they had a formula for Calgary Flames red. They even gave me a discount, which was awesome. Tomorrow the painting begins. I'll post pics if I ever remember.
