Phoenix re-signs David Rundblad

Phoenix re-signs David Rundblad to 2-year deal
per Sarah McLellan

#Coyotes have signed defenseman David Rundblad to a two-year deal. Rundblad was a restricted free agent.

Got a one-way so should be sticking up with big club this year.

What's the scoop on this guy? I remember a few years back a lot of people considered him one of the best offensive defenseman prospects outside the NHL after an amazing year in the SEL. Seems like he hasn't been able to stick in the show.... does he still have potential?

He's decent, needs to refine his Defensive side and be more confident offensively.

Got him for Turris. Glad he's getting a 1-way

Phoenix now has 9 defenseman on 1 way contracts...someone is leaving(probably 2)

I'd love to get a hold of Runblad on Calgary somehow, give him a fresh start on a growing defensive core here. Problem is Phoenix needs to move defensemen (not replace or add them), and Calgary has many similar players already already fighting for roster spots.

Yeah, that's for sure. Maloney already mentioned that he isn't interested in any of the forwards left in the FA and his desire is to trade for a top 6 forward. Can the Coyotes really see Yandle leaving this time for real? Klesla has to be untouchable unless if they see Stone and Summers being a legitimate NHL ready replacement for him. I truly believe Klesla is our best defensive defenseman.

Klesla
Morris
Yandle
Ekman-Larrson
Stone
Rundblad
Stone
Summers
Michalek

^Looking at that depth chart, Runblad just looks stuck between a rock and a hard place. Maybe a change would be a good idea.

How about taking Gormley off their hands, 21 year old guy who will be burning off his 2nd year of his ELC in Portland.

There was a lot on moaning on this board about the wasted 1st round pick for Jokinen.

What would it take? I think the flames would love to add a prospect like Gormley. Yotes have no interest in Cammy? Would they want a forward prospect in return? (Granlund?)

Doesn't make sense for Phoenix. They need to get rid of their Dmen on 1 way contracts so they can get guys like Rundblad/Gormley into the lineup.

I remember when he messed up a few times against us in the beginning when he played for Skellefteċ in Sweden. Made fun of him for it, even though it was apparent that he had a lot of talent. All-around decent guy, seems to have character from what I've heard. I hope he reaches his top potential.

Is it for sure that he has a 1-way contract?

Schlemko is ahead of him on the depth chart as well. They are probably looking into moving one of Klesla, Morris, or Michalek.

It's a problem I wish the Flames had.
