This should be Gaudreau's third and potentially final prospect camp as well I believe. The fourth one isn't mandatory right?

Since the flames can't pay a college players way..none are mandatory.

See I am not up to date on NCAA players commitments to attend prospect camps. Which is why I assumed and then asked. If that is the case I forsee Gaudreau attending as management would like to see his progress.

i sure hope he's coming, it would sure help ease the hearts of many a flames fan concerned that he may want to jet after finishing college.

Way I see it the camp means nothing, but..if he doesn't sign after this years school season you trade him immediately.

He'd be a fool not to attend, regardless of future plans. Free professional guidance and a chance to measure yourself against other prospects. I think he'll be there

While I expect him to be there like last time, I don't know if we should consider it "free." NCAA wont allow for the Flames to provide him anything, so the plane tickets, hotel room, transportation and the like would add up. Probably well worth the risk when he's likely less than a year away from signing a 6 figure or more contract in the NHL but still not really free.
I'm assuming nothing is happening at the NE Sportsplex like a couple years ago and just all WinSport, correct?

I'm not sure they have to "trade him immediately" but they will have to have a very good read on him going forward. I do think there are good odds he plays out his NCAA career and gets his degree. Maybe i wear homer glasses, but considering the crap team the flames have, i would think he would like to play for the flames just so he knows he will get playing time. Also by the time he finishes school the flames will have added a couple of high end prospects from the draft.
I will agree that if the flames feel next summer that he might not sign when he finishes school, then they have to trade him. I think he is going to have an even better year this year and his value will be even higher.

This might be a dumb question, but at a certain point, couldn't they just talk to him? If they have a good read on his character, isn't there some value in him saying "yeah, I intend to sign here".
I'm hoping management has some clue to whether or not he wants to sign here. I really hope he does.
