8 years? I thought only the team that originally drafted the player can sign them for 8?

Too long a term. Shopping Brad Marchand as a result of this is even more dumb.

Well that's just terrible. If Iggy hits all of his bonuses the Bruins could end up in cap hell.

Don't the bonuses count towards the cap regardless? I know there is a cushion for bonuses though.

No goalie is worth this kind of money and length.

Not as bad as DePietro (twice the term, 64 million vs 56 million). But still much too long for too much money.
They'll live to regret it.

I hope he turns into Bryzgoalby and they end up buying him out. I'm starting to not like the bruins more and more...even with Iggy there

They will have to make a move to shed salary.
I wish the Flames could take advantage of these teams but we lack the movable assets to do it.

If it were me, seeing Rask have periodic problems in big games, I would argue that he shouldn't have received more than 5 years at $6 million.

I don't think this is a bad deal. It is very similar to the Pekka Rinne deal that Nashville gave out. Rask is right around the top 5 goalies in the league.
